JJC Replacement of Canon ET-74B Lens Hood for EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS II USM

This JJC version of the Canon ET-74B Lens Hood fits my new Canon RF 100-400mm camera lens perfectly both as a lens hood and when screwed on the lens in reverse for storage: The item does not need much by way of instructions but nevertheless you will get the most out of it if you press the protruding button to release it and line up the red dot on the lens and lens hood when screwing it in place to use it then you should get the most benefit and not assume the hood does not fit properly. As long as you follow those simple instructions it is easy to use. It also provides good lens protection when in use because it is sturdy and robust and if you make contact with another object the lens hood should prevent it damaging the lens because the impact will be with the hood instead. I often use two cameras and I am very careful but it is almost inevitable there is some contact between them on occasions and this hood provides good protection. Most importantly when in use this lens hood avoids glare etc to improve photographs image quality which was my main purpose when I purchased it.. This JJC version of this lens hood is great value for money. I have purchased other JJC camera/photography products before this item and they are all great and I have faith in the brand. I would buy this again but I doubt I will ever need to as it works and there is no reason to think I will ever need to replace it. The fact I keep it attached to the lens in reverse when not in use means it is always available and hard to lose. This lens hood does everything I want it to and nothing that I do not want it to.

A lens hood is a must and yet Canon see fit not to supply them with their lenses. Considering the exhorbitant cost of a Canon lens it seems stingy that they expect customers to buy a lens hood as an extra, when it's a necessary part of the lens.JJC, thankfully came to the rescue and this lens hood fits my Canon lens perfectly. I can't find a fault with it and use it daily. The quick release button and way the lens hood locks onto the lens after rotating in place is much better than the friction fit I'm used to seeing.All in all, an excellent product for a reasonable price.

100-400 hood: Good value, does the job. JJC make good hoods for camera lens, just ordered one for another lens. Compared to the cost of the brand lens hood, this is great value.Also bought the hood for 18-150mm, great fit and product. Would buy from JJC again.

For the money compared to the original part this is a bit of a no brainer. On fitting it goes on smoothly and clicks in place with no play or rattle. The release button works fine. What I cannot say is how the inside surface of the hood compares to the original. This hood only has a simple mattish plastic finish. It isn't finished in any kind of texture or pattern to reduce internal reflections beyond that. I am OK with it.

Ik heb de lens hood van JJC omdat van Canon bijna 4x zo duur is en deze past perfect op mijn RF 100-400mm f5.6-f8.

The hood fits perfectly in the new IS II version of the Canon 70 300. Suppresses flare while shooting in bright sunlight. Overall worth the money. It is not built as good as the Canon model but it is value for money paid. No regrets.
