Unilever then decided, in 2006/7, with help from the EU in Brussels, to remove the carbolic acid from the ingredients and reformulate the product. This was not welcomed by many customers who were dismayed by this change. There is no Carbolic Lifebuoy Soap made anywhere in the world now. There are many Lifebuoy Soap versions, varieties, sizes and colours in other countries, but none have the Phenol additive. We are pleased to be able to offer REDBUOY made to a Traditional British Soap Formula, available in a Twin pack each bar a generous 130g Bar. Review: The only carbolic soap - The only carbolic soap to buy, it contains carbolic acid and has that strong carbolic smell. Most of the soaps calling themselves carbolic soap are not because they don’t contain carbolic acid. Redbuoy is the real deal. I love this stuff, makes you feel so clean although the smell is strong and lasts for some hours. It’s not an awful smell, clinical, hygienic is how I’d describe it. Nice smell but I wouldn’t shower with it before a date. Carbolic soap is great for so many things, antibacterial and antiviral which is why the Red Cross include it in aid packages. You can wash yourself with it, wash clothes, floors, work surfaces the uses are endless. Review: Lovely cleaner - I decided to use the old, tried and tested soaps from the past and remembered Carbolic soap, I ordered it and used it today to deep clean my home and then use it on myself in the shower, not only does my home feel extremely clean and sanitised but I feel extremely clean after using it in the shower. It was banned be the EU because it contained Phenol . It does work really well on fresh stains, especially grease. Not so well on older stains, but that's to be expected.
