I purchased this because I liked the idea of keeping butter soft and spreadable on the counter, and overall it’s a really nice product. The crock is heavy-duty, well made, and feels very sturdy and high quality. When I was actively using it, it worked well and kept the butter fresh and easy to spread. However, I didn’t realize that the water needs to be changed regularly. Since I travel often and am not always at home, that made it less practical for my lifestyle. That said, I still think it’s a great product and would absolutely recommend it for someone who is home consistently and wants a traditional butter crock setup. It would also make a very nice gift.

Oh to have soft butter for bread. When you know you know. This is a great quality product, stores well, compact, and looks good on the counter. Love the handle on the lid and the entire jar is not too heavy. Keeps the tempurature just right. The waterline mark help for filling properly. Cleans easily with hot water. This is a must have for every kitchen. Follow the direction carefully. It is important that the butter is pressed up in the bell tightly. I set butter out to soften and then use the back of a spoon to press it in tight. If your butter falls in the water it is a sign that you didn't get the air pockets out when putting the butter in. Check the water ever couple days. Best if you use butter often.

Keeps Butter Perfectly Spreadable and Looks Great on the Counter! I had been on the hunt for a better way to store butter at room temperature without it turning into a greasy mess or going bad. After reading about French butter crocks, I decided to give the Sweese Butter Crock a try—and I’m so glad I did! First off, it’s beautifully made. The ceramic has a clean, modern look and comes in a bunch of colors (I picked the white one, which fits my kitchen aesthetic perfectly). It’s compact but holds about a stick of butter—just the right amount for everyday use.

This is our second butter keeper after the first one was dropped in the sink and broke. This keeps the butter relatively soft and spreadable versus keeping in the refrigerator. A few degrees can make all the difference with butter so even the temperature of the house can make a big difference. This product is effective at keeping the butter spreadable and fresh. It holds one entire stick of butter. It is also a good looking butter keeper that adds a splash of color to the countertop. One word of advice, be careful where on the countertop you put this butter keeper. We had a few instances where the butter plopped out when picking up the top. It took a few times of this happening when we realized it was sitting above the dishwasher which was warming up the countertop and softening the butter too much. No issues since moving it to a different location.

I am LOVING this Sweese French Butter Dish! For the longest time I have been curious about keeping butter outside the fridge, but have been hesitant to try it. Recently I saw this Sweese butter dish (love the brand!) and decided to give it a try. Game changer!! Not only is it super convenient to have spreadable butter available anytime, but the taste seems so much better too (can't explain it). Seriously, plain toast with room temp butter spread across it is SO GOOD. As previously mentioned, I have been hesitant to try storing butter on the counter. We've bought "real" butter (not margarine) for years, and the packages clearly say "keep refrigerated," but I did some research, including checking the USDA site, and found it is safe if you follow certain guidelines. So glad we tried it! With this product you press your butter into the "bell" built into the lid of the dish - it can accommodate a stick or a little more - removing air gaps/bubbles (real butter only - no margarine - salted is better for this). Then you add cold water in the base up to the fill line, put the bell/lid onto the base, and store on your counter. Change your water every couple of days, and store away from really warm areas, and it works great. Feeling fancy over here!

It is exactly like I wanted. I dropped mine and it broke. I love having my butter speadable and still be fresh. It was delivered on time. I would use this vendor again.

I've never been a fan of butter dishes and even less of a fan of kitchen counter clutter. Do you know what I hate even more? Struggling to spread rock-hard butter on my toast, turning my breakfast into a wrestling match! Enter the French Butter Dish to save the day! This little miracle worker has totally changed my mind. It keeps butter soft, spreadable, and oh-so-ready for action. No more battles with frozen butter! My toast is eternally grateful. Plus, it's like the butter dish is part of a covert ops team – it takes up so little space, you won't even notice it's there. My counters are looking fly and buttery-licious! This little gem is easy to maintain. Start off by leaving a stick of butter out to warm up, then add it to the crock top, fill the bottom with cool water to the fill line on the inside of the bottom container, and add a pinch of salt or vinegar per the instructions to help with keeping your butter fresh, empty and refill the water every couple of days, and that's all there is to it. The directions state that it is possible to use the butter crock for herb butter, however, it will only keep for up to 7 days. I love making chive butter so I'll probably buy a separate crock for small amounts of herb butter. So, yeah, I'll admit it – I'm now a butter dish believer! The French Butter Dish has converted me, and I'm spreading the word (literally!). Color purchased - white to keep things simple.

The item was badly misshapen and unusable. The bell was out of round and wouldn't seal in most direction and when rotated would lock up and become almost impossible to open.

This was ordered as a gift. I received the box which was intact, but half of the product was missing bottom half. And the top was broken into many pieces. The top of the crockpot was in the box by itself.
