Works well and is good value
Bought as a present to our son-in-law who became addicted to our 1970s electric carving knife when visiting. He is very happy with his Russell Hobbs and uses it all the time for carving roasts. It works well and is good value.

Good breadknife
This knife has a well designed ergonomic safety handle and a single button on top to press to operate the knife. It slices loaves of bread quickly thinly and effectively - no more doorsteps! I am pleased with it. It does not seem to be quite as good when used as a carving knife for meat, but that may be a matter of practice as well; I've given it four stars because of this. It is a little noisy but I expect that most electric knives are similar Good enough for the money and for slicing home made bread and it seem to have a better handle than some similarlly priced knives, according to the reviews I read when deciding which knife to buy.

Works well, not too noisy, easy to clean.
This pretty much does what it says on the box. Primarily used for cooked meats and bread, which it handles with ease, Would be nice if spare blades were available, or even freezer blades as we had with another model we had before this one. We never used them, but it was nice to know we could of if we wanted to. On switching to this one I noticed it cut much easier, but I think that was the difference between old and new blades (hence the request for replacement blades) seems a shame - and environmentally unsound - to junk a functional unit just to get new blades. Have sent one over to my daughter in Sweden, where an electric knife is unheard of it seems - none of the major retailers stock ANY.

An excellent product
We were looking for a replacement electric carving knife for my wife’s 40-year-old Moulinex. After scouring the lights of Selfridges and John Lewis Oxford Street, I couldn’t find a replacement but I saw this one on Amazon. She used it for the first time on Sunday I’m pleased to report it works just as well as her original, the design is good and looking at it it seems to have very similar internals to the Moulinex. We have no hesitation of giving it 5 out of 5 stars, fingers crossed it will last just as long as the original.

Slightly better than a manual knife, but with reservations.
I use this for home baked sourdough bread. While it is easier than using a traditional bread knife for multiple loaves, you have to be aware of a few things. Firstly the power lead could do with being a bit longer so that you can safely use it. For me the length of the body of the unit is a bit too short so that the ball of my hand sometimes ends up resting on the cord stay at the end of the unit. More importantly I have had a number of occasions where after taking my thumb off the start button (which requires constant pressure - I'll come onto that later) the unit has continued operating for a few seconds at normal speed. This is hazardous! The start button needs to be depressed to operate the knife, which is good, but prolonged operation of a few minutes makes your thumb ache which means you have a tendency to press harder, which just means it ends up as a numb thumb. Cutting through bread requires some effort (more than you would have though) to actually get started and break through the (thin) crust. On some loaves the length of the knife is not quite long enough to cut properly down the middle. I would strongly advise reserving a pair of knife gloves to make sure that you are protected IF the blade were to slip. You must pay attention and be conscious of where your fingers are when using this. Sounds obvious but it could be easy to be distracted or absent-minded. Is it better than a manual knife, yes, but NOT that much better. I can see myself moving towards some sort of automated slicer in the future.

Great value for money.
Bought to replace a similar size electric knife (different brand) which stopped working after many, many years of use. This feels just as robust and powerful, doing as good a job as replaced item.

Don't buy
The item is useless. I am not able to plug it in. The plug is not a regular plug. It was a waste of 40. It should say in description that it isn't normal plug. Very frustrating.

Good Stuff.
I was already familiar with the Russel Hobbs brand and have been pleased with the items purchased previously. The company produces quality kitchen equipment sold at an affordable price.
