These 500 IU Vitamin D Drops are, in my opinion, a very safe and easy way to supplement Vitamin D, an essential nutrient. The older you are, the more important Vitamin D supplementation can be, as it has some hormonal effects and is important for bone, skin, and eye health. It can also boost mood and has some powerful immune system effects. Daily requirements are very controversial, and, in my opinion, very dependent on your genetics; I suggest you research this thoroughly for yourself before supplementing, and, if you choose, work closely with a trusted health professional. I think it's also VITALLY IMPORTANT to concurrently supplement with Vitamin K2 (like this soy-free version: NOW Foods Vitamin K-2,100mcg, 100 Vcaps ). Simultaneous Vitamin K supplementation is important, long-term, to prevent calcification and atherosclerosis (PLEASE research this for yourself; Google can help). K2 is also an excellent bone-builder in its own right. Personally, I supplement with somewhat high levels of D and have my blood tested every 6 months to keep it at 70 or so. The flavor of these drops is just fine; it's in a coconut oil base, easy to take sublingually (under the tongue) for fastest action. My intake varies, depending on how much sun exposure I get in a day (I spend time outside, whenever I can). i take 1 NOW Foods Vitamin K-2,100mcg, 100 Vcaps and 6000 iu (12 drops of this 500 iu Thorne D3) daily, on average. In winter, I double that. For my age (over 40) and gender (female), that seems to work very well at keeping me at my goal of 70. I actually bought this lower-dose 500iu for my hubby (who needs less), but simply take more drops myself to get what I need, just to simplify our supplements. Dosages are SO individualized & really depend quite a bit on your genetics and the general state of your health. I had my gene print "read" at 23andme & some analysis through promethease definitely showed that I have a genetic proclivity toward a greater-than-average need for Vitamin D. My best advice is to get your bloodwork done FIRST, then get medical advice as to a starting dosage to raise your levels. Hope that helps!

My naturopath recommended this supplement for me and it’s the only brand she trusts. I know that she’s done her research so it is a high quality supplement that has a high bio-availability and my body absorbs it better than other supplement brands. It is more expensive because of the quality, so it may not last as long as other brands but it’s more potent so that kinda balances out the price. The dropper isn’t my favorite, but that might be a personal choice.

For those who believe in taking Vitamin D and struggle taking tablets or pills, taking the Vitamin D Liquid is your best bet.

The amount that drops out for the 2 drops you get per serving doesn't have me convinced. I live in Northern VT and have taken a liquid D from October to April for years. Its always been in a dropper and a easy to see what your taking. I was trying to drop the 2 miniscule drops directly into my mouth but they are so so so small I couldn't tell if they had dispensed. Now Im dropping in my measuring spoon I use for my fish oil and it just doesn't seem right. I hope its working but I definitely wouldn't purchase this product again unless they included an actual dropper.
