An excellent biometric pistol safe, but the security cable can't be detached multiple times
This is an excellent biometric safe, especially at this price point. The fingerprint reader is very fast, and it honestly works better than some of my other biometric safes that are 3x more expensive. It opens very quickly, and the spring pops the lid open just the right amount to reach in. Storage capacity is very good, and the interior is nicely foam lined. However, it's a little taller than most safes in this style, and I couldn't get it to fit under my car seat, so definitely pay attention to the dimensions to make sure it will fit where you're putting it. If the batteries fail, you can just plug it into a USB C cable and that will power it up so you can open it and swap out the batteries. Programming it is a little confusing at first, but you quickly get the hang of it. The attached security cable is good, but the way it anchors into the case is less than ideal - basically the end of the cable has a threaded male bolt that's the same diameter as the cable, and you put a round nut on it to keep it attached on the inside of the safe to keep it attached. The nut is secured with a screw that threads into it and pushes against the male threads on the cable bolt, and can easily crush the threads on it if you use too much force (ask me how I know). Then it becomes very difficult to detach the security cable from the safe, because the threads are messed up, and the nut that holds it is perfectly smooth and rounded on the outside. I highly recommend that you're gentle with securing the nut, and in general, you're not going to be removing the security cable from the safe and re-attaching it a lot, because that mounting system won't bear a lot of repeated use. They could change it and this would be a much better safe. Security is decent, but it's not going to stop someone that has time and doesn't care about noise. But for defending against your average smash and grab thief that isn't carrying around an angle grinder, it's plenty.

Good product
Easily fits my Smith & Wesson 9mm and mag. I like that you have 3 ways to open and that you could add multiple fingerprints, which allows my wife or anyone else I trust to have access. Safe feels sturdy and durable. Only complaint is I had to buy cabinet door bumpers for the bottom of the safe to prevent it from sliding.

Well-built, Nicely Sized and Reliable Pistol Safe at a Great Price
Have been looking for a moderately-sized, secure pistol safe like this one at a competitive price that I could use to store firearms at home and to transport to my various shooting competitions; this safe fits the bill. The safe came well-packaged and fairly quickly. It is well-built and substantial in weight, but of a size and weight that still affords transporting firearms and can be locked in a vehicle. The safe is large enough to contain my pistol in a light fabric holster along with an extra mag in a belt holder. Of note, the containment box of the safe and the "roof" both include foam protection/covering -- some don't. The biometric lock is easy to program, it is accurate and responsive, and opens and closes reliably and smoothly with a spring action on the password or the biometric fingerprint -- all essential in an emergency. The safe comes with a cable to secure it down. The safe comes with four batteries, keys, mini screwdriver, a C-charge cord and a small gun cloth (mine even came with a few spare battery compartment door set screws). Overall, an excellent "small" Pistol Safe that is a quality, perfectly sized Pistol Safe for my needs (and those of my family) at a great price. 5 Stars.

Solid, Functional, and a Good Value โ After 100+ Hours of Research, This Was the Winner (for Me)
TLDR: Let me start by saying do not take my 4 stars as this is a bad unit. It is a very good unit for the money and met everyone of my expectations and needs. I would have no problem buying another one. If you absolutely have to have the highest quality and most secure locking mechanism, pass on this. If you need something that works, with a quick fingerprint scanner and open mechanism and checks most of the boxes for a good price, continue reading. Review: Iโm pretty OCD when it comes to buying anything. Iโve spent hundreds of hours over the last three months researching travel pistol safesโwatching YouTube videos, digging through forums, reading specs, and weighing the trade-offs between quality, price, and features. Yes, there are higher-end safes out there with beefier construction or more advanced locking mechanisms. But as someone who tends to go way overboard with research, I ultimately decided to stop chasing "the best" and just get something solid, functional, reasonably priced that would meet my needs ... which was to secure my pistol in my backpack. Enter the HOLEWOR Car Gun Safe โ and honestly, Iโm glad I went with it. It strikes a great balance between quality and affordability. Not the best. Far from the worst. But for my needs, it just works. The Vaultek Lifepod 2.0 was the only other one I was considering. It is a great little case, but it's $140 more and does offer water protection, but the scanner and reliability is no better. Maybe a little tougher to break into, but honestly if someone has enough time and determination, it won't matter. They will get into your safe. Go to youtube and search for yourself. ๐ My Use Case: I bought this specifically to fit inside my First Tactical 1-Day+ Tactix backpack, carrying an H&K VP9 with an Olight Baldr Pro light/laser mounted, plus 1 extra mag. The gun with mag fits perfectly in this case. In case you need it, the Vp9 official dimensions are 7.34" x 5.41" x 1.32". The Olight Baldr Pro does stick out past the barrel by less than 1". Full disclaimer, the safe did not fit the CCW compartment (too thick), but fits perfectly in the rear compartment or easily inside the main compartment. So if you're planning a similar setup, this might help you gauge fitment. โ Key Features I Like: Biometric fingerprint scanner (quick access, fast read, responsive in my testing) Digital passcode entry (up to 6 digits) Manual key override Fits full-size handgun w/ light (HK VP9 + Olight Baldr Pro + 1 mag fits like a glove). Vaultek Lifepod 1.0 does not fit this setup. You have to buy the 2.0 version which of course if more $$. Solid build quality โ Has a qualitative, sturdy feel Portable โ Fits well in my backpack, not too heavy Setup is fast & simple โ Had it ready in < 2 minutes ๐ฃ Fingerprint Setup: Quick Press the function button (inside front, lower right ), then: Press 1 to set your passcode (then type in your passcode up to 6 digits) Or Press 3 to register fingerprints and place finger 3x on the scanner. Green light + tone confirms successful registration. I set up both index fingers and thumbs on both hands. I tested at varying angles, and the scanner recognized and opened quickly each time. Definitely recommend doing multiple fingers just in case. ๐งฐ Minor Annoyances: The battery compartment screw is small and fiddly. Iโd love if HOLEWOR made it captive (attached to the panel) to prevent losing it or struggling during setup. When closed, thereโs minor lid movement โ some slight slop. Not a deal-breaker, but itโs there. In a backpack, the buttons can be pressed inadvertently, waking the unit. It hasnโt caused any issues yet, but itโs something to be aware of. A more recessed button design might help prevent this. ๐ฏ Final Thoughts: If you're like me and obsess over every little detail, just know this isnโt a Fort Knox-level safe, but itโs more than enough for everyday travel or bedside storage. The fingerprint scanner works, it feels solid, itโs quick to access, and it does what it promises without breaking the bank. Iโm very satisfied with the purchase and would recommend it to anyone looking for a solid middle-ground option that checks all the important boxes without the premium price tag. ๐ Disclaimer: This review is based solely on my personal experience and specific use case. Everything you need, nothing you don't
This is the best small safe I own. Why? Because it gives you everything you need and nothing you don't. Let's go through a checklist. - Passcodes. There are 4 buttons and the passcodes are digits characters long. Is it secure enough? I'd think so: this gives you 4096 combinations, will take your attacker quite a bit of time to go through that, especially given that this safe doesn't suffer from security weaknesses that simple mechanical code locks are riddled with. You can also register up to 8 passcodes, just in case you want to make sure you'll remember one of those. BTW, the default password is "111111". You are welcome. Also change it right away! Everything you need, nothing you don't. - Fingerprints: you can register up to 50. Why would one need so many, even counting your toes you only have 20 right? Well, you might want to add your chihuahua's paw print as well if you want her to be able to access whatever is inside in a pinch. I also tend to add a finger several times, pressing on different sides: that tends to improve recognition reliability. Not that this sensor needs it - in my experience it works great. - Backup keys: it has them. In case everything else fails. - Power: The safe is drawing it's energy from 4 AAA batteries. My old safe used 9V, and drained it within several months - and then I'd have to look for the key to open it. Besides, it didn't notify my that the batteries are running dry - and the Holewar does (red light flashing when opened). This guy also offers something simply genius: a USB Type C port. You can power this thing with your phone or laptop charger, or a power bank. USB Type C is everywhere! - Light. The device uses light perfectly. When you touch any of the controls they light up. When the safe is opened, internal blue LEDs switch on for 15 seconds, helping you to see inside even in pitch black, maintaining a discrete light signature at the same time. Again, everything you need, nothing you don't. - Cable lock: it's there, it's reasonable, not much to say about it. Anchor it to something heavy when you are not traveling with it! Or to your car when you are. - Size and weight: perfectly sized for almost anyone, except for largest "gaming" setups. I can totally see throwing this guy into my bag for travel as well, in fact this is one of the reasons I decided on this specific model. Is there anything I'd change? Yes. There is no way I've found to disable the beeps when the safe is operated. This is unfortunate: in a self defense situation, the beeps might alert your adversary. I'm planning to de-solder the internal speaker: this will take care of that issue.

Could Have Been A 5 Star Gun Safe
Issues: 1st, Full disclosure, I did not do due diligence in that this is a Chinese made product-why would I want a bio-metric gun safe made by the Chinese? Answer: I don't. 2nd, as others have indicated, the end of the cable that attaches to the gun safe is of a very poor design; all someone would need to do is rotate the gun safe a few turns and it is going to come loose. Other manufactures have engineered simple solutions resolving the problem. It wouldn't be that hard, a relatively mechanically minded 12-year-old could come up with a more intelligent solution than that used on this gun safe. Instead I am left to modify it myself, in order to have some sense of security using this gun safe. Otherwise, in most every other aspect, it is a nice gun safe and a good value.

Good safe for my truck
Good size that holds 2 compact pistols. Since my state requires you to lock unattended guns in a hard side container when left in a vehicle, this suits my needs well. It just works.
