Not workingredients now and only had it 1 month . **Q: do you have to unscrew the base to put batteries in?** A: No, the battery cover sort of unclips, but it's quite an unco-operative piece of plastic and it took me a few attempts before I got it to come off. **Q: Does it meet the health and safety environmental protection with a CE mark at all?** A: Had mine a few years now so cannot remember. Brought it to see cross stitch canvas and pattern better. The LEDs make it ideal for cross stitches in the evening or on dull days. Had to put a knot in cord as not adjustable but not a problem. Very easy to use. The battery cover is also very difficult to get off (whilst being flimsy at the same time) and I was terrified I was going to break it.However, this item is not in any way expensive and I think it's pretty good considering it doesn't cost much.
