So much easier than baking bread in a Dutch oven, and has multiple other uses.
I am 79 years old and have quite a lot of experience with baking sour dough and other Artisan breads using home milled flours and long fermentation methods. I stopped maintaining a sour dough starter since I was using more flour to maintain the starter than what I used for baking bread. Since then, I have used flour milled from whole grains and the long fermentation method with excellent results without having to maintain a starter. Many have been baked in the standard Dutch oven. The downside of using a standard Dutch oven is getting the loaf out of the Dutch oven without getting burned. This Dutch oven with the lower sides is so much easier. I do suggest that it is oiled before baking bread to make removal of the bread and cleanup easier. I also have a few name brand Dutch ovens, and I find the quality of this less expensive Dutch oven comparable in quality and baking ability. In my experience, I have found that humidity is required for the initial oven spring that raises the loaves in the first 10-15 minutes of baking. This can be done by spritzing the sides of the oven every 7 minutes or placing a pan of water in the oven. With this baker, the humidity required for oven spring is maintained with the domed cover. This is so much less messy than the other two methods. The capacity of this Dutch oven is great for baking a good sized loaf and also works for a number of different functions. For example, baking a roast or chicken in this Dutch oven will produce moist and tender meats. Crisping can be done at the end of the baking. This Dutch oven is heavy, but then all cast iron is. The weight comes with the territory to produce superior, moist meats and breads. I do have a few Dutch oven of different size in the name brands, and this Dutch oven seems to be of similar quality. I will update this review if my opinion changes. As a sidenote, I bought this Dutch oven in red and another in Orange from the same seller. I honestly can't tell the difference in color. I hope this review was helpful for you

This pan is worth is weight in GOLD!
I had been baking my bread in a 7.25 qt Le Creuset dutch oven. I needed to bake a LOT of bread for a fundraiser, so I started looking for a cast iron bread oven or multi cooker – something with a shallow base and tall lid. I was looking at the Le Creuset bread oven, but $300+ for such a specific pan... OUCH! This pan came up as a suggestion. For $60, I'll give it a try. I am so happy I did! This pan bakes the most beautiful bread, golden crust, perfection! The pan arrived well packed, no chips or damage. It's nearly the exact same color as my Le Creuset Cerise red pans. My Le Creuset are older, so they have black knobs not silver. The interior of this pan is a light enamel just like the LC dutch ovens. One thing that drove me to this pan instead of the LC bread oven is the LC bread oven has a matte black interior. In my experience, the darker the pan, the darker the finished product… This pan has the same height at the 7.25qt LC dutch oven. This pan bakes bread just as nice as my LC dutch oven. Nice even heating. I mostly use a silicone bread sling. I use parchment sheets if there are additions (blueberries, cheddar/jalapeno, etc) to prevent a mess in the pan as they bubble/burn. I always have a pizza stone on the rack directly under the pan when baking bread, whether using this pan or the LC dutch oven. Grandma said to do it, so I do!! Guess it helps prevent a dark bottom on the bread. This pan is a workhorse. I baked 144 loaves in 6 weeks, plus many more since then. The pan is still in great condition, no chips or cracks. The silver knob on top is a duller silver, but that is expected after many hours in a 450 oven.

Must have for sourdough.
Five stars for this beautiful pot. It really keeps in that necessary steam for the perfect sourdough loaf without the messy pans of water, ice cubes, or wet towels so often recommended. My loaves come out high and crispy every time. It’s so much easier to use. This is a big pot with room for a large loaf. It is heavy - it’s cast iron, after all. The turquoise color is so pretty. I smile each time I use it. It also cleans up easily after baking. I just let it cool, then run a damp towel over it to remove any crumbs that may have stuck. I’ve used it a dozen times and haven’t washed it yet. No need to.

This Dutch Oven Didn’t Just Bake Bread — It Raised My Standards for Myself
Somewhere between watching steam rise from a fresh 12-grain boule and hearing the crack of crust as it cooled, I realized this pot had officially joined the short list of things I’d grab in a house fire. Let’s start with the color: deep, rich blue with just the right amount of enamel gloss to feel like you have your life together — or at least like you're trying. It sits on the stove like it owns the place, and honestly? It kind of does. Now the performance: I use this primarily for bread, specifically a homemade 12-grain boule that I pretend is rustic and wholesome but is really just my ADHD therapy project in edible form. This Dutch oven nails it every time. The size (6 quarts) is perfect — not too cavernous, not too shallow. Just enough to let your dough rise into the kind of round, radiant loaf that says: yes, I do read ingredient labels, and no, I’m not going back to store-bought. Heat distribution? Even. Steam retention? Excellent. Cleaning? Surprisingly chill, as long as you don’t treat it like a steel pan from 1994. It’s sturdy without being a wrist injury. It holds heat like it’s personal. And it does all of this without the premium price tag that usually comes with cookware that has a French name and generational baggage. I haven’t made chili in it yet, but let’s not kid ourselves — that’s only because I’m still too focused on baking loaves and pretending I’m in a cottagecore montage. Final note: if you’re on the fence, wondering if you need a dedicated bread pot — you do. This one. Right here. Skip the influencer-stamped $400 ones and go with this hardworking, beautiful beast that just quietly delivers. This isn’t a purchase. It’s a culinary turning point.

Lovely bread pan
I have been using a cast iron pot and lid but really wanted the more expensive version of this. I had this at a deal price of £64.99 and it arrived well packed day after order. I was a bit sceptical reading reviews on chips in the enamel but after a quick check we were good to go. I have cooked 5 sourdough breads in it since I received this and I have to say I'm happy. Its still a bit of learning cure with temperatures ect. I need to say that I have added ice for steam no problem and it had no effect on my enamel. After use I leave it cool down and then wipe clean with a damp clean cloth and it removed any marks from the flour and ice ect. I have added photos of how it looks after being used 5 times and also the bread I made today. Things I like are It is heavy but not as heavy as my cast iron pan. The lid is easy to remove mid cooking. How evenly is cooks the bread all around ( this might have something to do with the base being shallow once the lid is removed). It is not overly big so fits lovely in my oven. I do not need to use a sling to get it in or out is a big bonus . Very easy to clean.
