Why are the pill capsules yellow instead of the usual white? Are they knock-offs?

We did change the color of these Pro Formula capsules in August 2020 from white to caramel yellow color. This change will not affect our product in any way. It is still the same quality probiotic, Bifidobacterium longum 35624™, in the same quantity and potency you’ve always trusted from Align. - The Align Team

So what's the difference in the "Pro" formula. Your reps over the phone couldn't answer the question. Is it purely marketing?

Marketing ploy! The 2 formulas have the same amount of CFUs. This answer is copied directly from nouri online research: "Currently, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) requires almost all ingredients in dietary supplements to be listed by weight (mg). Milligrams tells you the weight of the bacteria contained in the product, but this measurement is not meaningful because the number of bacteria (CFU) can vary greatly and do not correlate with weight. On the other hand, colony forming units measures the total number of cells and tells you exactly how much bacteria is in the product. In practicality, this means that when comparing a product with a higher amount of milligrams per serving, it’s important to note that it could actually have a lower CFU count. To allow for more transparency with consumers, in 2018 the FDA allowed companies to add colony forming units to their labels as well...Quality products will guarantee their counts throughout the entire shelf life of the product, ensuring the consumers will get an effective amount, even on the last day of shelf life. " That being said, align may still be beneficial for many people but just know you may be spending more by buying into their marketing ploy.
