Boying Up: How to Be Brave, Bold and Brilliant Hardcover – May 8, 2018

Great book to open conversations about puberty topics between tweens and parents. I do wish she had separated the info in the front and back of the book into 2 different books. The initial info is great for tweens. The last part if the book covers topics that are more appropriate for teenagers. All kids are raised in different environments, but for our 12 year old kids, advice about dating, choosing sexual partners will be a couple of years down the road. They're mom is trying to figure out how to let them read just the first half for now. The information is much needed, but tweens arent teens.

I bought this book in spite of the author’s small screen notoriety. I gave it to my significant other’s grandson on his first teen birthday. My note to him said I wished I’d had a book like this when I was his age, and that we did not have to discuss it further unless he wanted to. Therefore, I don’t know if he’s read it. But the straightforward way the chapters are listed gives good pause that he has.

This book is a future gift for my grandson, as he's only 6 now. After seeing the author on a talk show, I couldn't wait to order this; such a great common-sense book to help raise a well-adjusted, thoughtful young man.

I've been looking for a book for my tween boy that both discusses changes matter of factly and also acknowledges that the subject matter may not be comfortable with them. A book that addresses questions that may first need to be answered by this book before the young man has the courage to ask and talk to his parent about them. Very well written. I can see it being a go to book for several months-years as my son refers back to it. Recommended ages 10 and up.

Bought this for almost 13 year old grandson. I flipped through, and thought it had some worthwhile info in it. He has now finished it and said he actually learned some things, so he thought it was worth reading.

I love Mayim’s voice! Her words incite diversity and inclusion and encourage boys to seek to understand their feelings and emotions. I have passed this on to my own 12-year-old to read and suggested it to my other friends who have sons.

For a single mom with no idea how the make body works this was a lifesaver!! Very well written and easy to use to talk to my son.

I thought this book would be more of a parenting guide for me, but it is written directly to the growing boy. It's still a valuable resource and I'll read it to my son when he is a little older.

Ich finde Mayim Bialik einfach super und habe einige ihrer Videos und Interviews gesehen. Deswegen dachte ich, das Buch wäre etwas für mich - schließlich kann auch ich als Mutter von zwei Jungs ein paar Tipps zur männlichen Pupertät gut gebrauchen. Aus den Medien und Buchbeschreibungen hatte ich den Eindruck gewonnen, das dieses Buch eben nicht nur etwas für die Jungs selbst ist, sondern auch für Erwachsene.Leider war das nicht der Fall. Aufgrund ihrer Ausbildung hatte ich einfach ein wenig mehr Hintergrund und Tiefe erwartet, es ist aber eben leider durch und durch für den einfachen Teenager geschrieben. Für mich in dem Alter wäre das Buch Verschwendung gewesen, weil ich nichts Neues gelernt hätte. Das amerikanische Bildunssystem ist aber eben anders und auch hierzulande gibt es bestimmt Jungs, die nicht mit dem Vorwissen ausgestattet werden. Für die ist es vielleicht hilfreich. Gut zu lesen ist es auf jeden Fall.

I bought this for my son who is entering his tween years and starting to experience what is written in this book. This book is VERY well written and very informative. I promote open communication in our house, so no subjects are off limits. This books has made broaching the topic less awkward for my son, and as he says, helps him to feel like he is not alone. It helps to create a very in-depth road map of what to expect in these upcoming years. I am very grateful to Mayim Bialik for writing this book. I highly recommend to anyone with a 11 yr old boy.

The book has everything for a grown-up boy. The boy needs help from open-minded elders to make them understand the book.It is a perfect guidance for healthy growth both physically and mentally. This can be a life-changing book for every boy. PLEASE go for it

I am still reading this, however so far, the information I have read is exactly as I had hoped. This is to help me navigate late primary school age onwards with my son and it will be a great resource.

Purchased for a friend for her children. She appears to be pleased n the kids eager about them
