Words Are Hard - Party Games - Family Card Games - for Kids 8 and up

We brought this game along to a birthday party a couple weeks ago, and it was a HUGE HIT! The game itself is so simple that I didn’t think it would be a lot of fun, but if you get the right group of people it can make the whole night. We played with about 10 people and modified the rules a little bit to make it easier to play with a large group around the living room, but the fundamentals remained the same and everybody had a blast. The cards seem like they are sturdy and will last a long time despite the slapping element of the game. There’s nothing in the box except game cards to use, so traveling with it is extremely easy. You can either take the box and all of the cards, or grab a ziploc bag and take half the cards with you in a backpack. There is no game board or timer to go along with it so that’s easy. It’s a terrific game and would make a terrific game for anyone in your life that enjoys a game with rapid gameplay (bananagrams comes to mind) and truly feels like it’d be great for all ages playing together at one time. The round cards are a clever way to ensure the picture doesn’t always point in the same direction when the card is flipped, which adds a fun and challenging twist to the game.

Love this game! Directions are easy and the laughs are endless! Fun to play as a family and easy for new players! We own a VERY large game selection and this one stands out for being fun, no strategy needed and can be as short or as long as you’d like to play which is a HUGE win for multi age kiddos.

Fun and hilarious game to play. When in real life, words ARE hard. So you just need to take the first letter of what’s on the card and say something else that it’s not. Super simple but fun, chaotic and hilarious game to play. Easy to read. Can be a very fast paced game. Children and adults seems to enjoy this. So it is family friendly. But beware who plays for you have no idea what they will say.

This game is a lot more fun than it might look. I need games that are relatively simple and relatively quick. Our family has REALLY limited time together and long or difficult games just...... well they're just 'not on the table.' haha. So anyway, we bought this and played for the first time with our kids who had also never played it. The kids liked it so much they kept it. We liked it so much we bought another. Easy to learn, easy to play, lots and lots of laughs! Some cards require interpretation, or discussion (I call it a chicken but someone else calls it a hen, type of thing) but I think that was part of the fun.

Played this at a family girls night and had so much fun! Some of the images on the cards are super easy to tell what it is and others are hard to determine what the image actually is (not sure if this is purposeful or not) but it caused lots of laughter when someone thought it was something specific and was wrong. I had family asking me to bring this game every time we get together now! Can easily be played with kids or adults only. I will say we changed the rules a bit so it allowed everyone to guess/play all at once instead of it being 1:1.

This is an easy-to-learn, fast-paced, fun family game. Especially fun watching brothers play against each other (some cards may have been damaged during that round!) The cards could be made a little more durable, but held up pretty well, considering. Cards are about the size of a small circular coaster. Definitely recommend, especially for the competitive types, as you will laugh while players fumble over their words trying to get the right word out! This game also has a good price point, especially for the laughs and entertainment you will get from it!

I purchased this game as a gift for a friend, and we played it shortly after she opened it. It was a lot of fun. I originally discovered the game through a video, which prompted me to buy it. The concept is simple, but it’s incredibly enjoyable.
