Great book by a 10 year old about overcoming his peanut allergy
I read this book and then gave the book to my 8 year old who suffers from tree nut allergy. He thought it was "totally cool" that a 10 year old wrote this book. He found the book easy to read, engrossing, and "suspenseful" because he couldn't wait to find out if Jack beat his peanut allergy. He said he will recommend this book to his friends who also suffer from nut/peanut allergy. As for me, I really enjoyed the book because I thought it was very well written. You can really relate to Jack because he is very open and descriptive about his experience volunteering for the clinical peanut study. And he writes like a cute 10 year old, albeit a very literate one.

This is an important book for anyone who has to navigate the complexities of dealing with a childhood allergy, whether as a sufferer, a caregiver or those who inhabit their orbit. Written in a friendly, humorous and approachable manner from the perspective of a ten year old boy, this work brings a ray of hope to the sometimes-scary world in which children with peanut allergies reside. Ultimately, the author’s brave story can serve as an inspiration to those similarly situated and will leave the reader smiling for having learned about Jack’s experiences.

A pleasure to read, and nice to hear the story from the point of view of a child going through the experience! My daughter enjoyed this book a lot!

Jack has a peanut allergy and wants to find out if he can get help by going into a peanut allergy study. I think other kids would like this story because you learn about what people with allergies think and feel. I’m glad I read it because it helps me understand allergies and how strong the reaction can be. My favorite part was when he got the good news that he was able to eat 13 peanuts! I would recommend this book and give it 5 stars. Written by: Ellie, age 8.

I liked the way he describes everything he went through. I think it will encourage other kids with peanut allergies to fight against it.
