Supports optimal blood sugar levelsOne of the most deleterious effects of ''normal'' aging is impaired glucose metabolism. Failure to control excess sugar can trigger a cascade of ill health effects throughout the body. For example, patients with high blood sugar can suffer after-meal endothelial dysfunction, induced by a flood of glucose, fats, and abnormal proteins called advanced glycation end products entering the bloodstream. Benfotiamine, a fat-soluble form of vitamin B1 (thiamine), may help your body to support healthy blood sugar metabolism. It acts through several mechanisms to seemingly block the biochemical pathways by which high blood sugar wreaks havoc throughout the body. In a study published in the journal Diabetes Care, scientists demonstrated for the first time that benfotiamine (1050 mg per day) effectively reduced postprandial endothelial dysfunction and oxidative stress normally seen in patients with high blood sugar who were fed a heat-processed meal with a high content of advanced glycation end products. Benfotiamine, a fat-soluble form of vitamin B1 (thiamine), supports healthy blood sugar metabolism and helps protect against advanced glycation and oxidative stress. In studies, proven to block three of the four major metabolic pathways leading to blood vessel damage and inflammation. Benfotiamine with Thiamine is a low-cost dietary supplement that can help maintain blood sugar levels in those already within normal range, and support normal nerves, kidneys, eyes, blood vessels, and heart.

Changed From 3 To 5 Stars. Here's Why...
I'll leave my original review from a year ago below but I"m changing my rating from 3 to 5 stars for two big reasons.1. My feet are in agony right now. This had been happening to me before I started taking benfotiamine and this was the first brand of it that I tried. It worked beautifully. A some point I ordered a different unknown brand and the pain returned so I went back on this one. Then months passed and again I ordered a cheaper but this time very well known brand in orange and white bottle and immediately the pain returned. I kept telling myself there is no way that it could be from switching brands. But it has become very obvious to me that this is what's happening again. I have no idea why Life Extension's benfotiamine is working but 2 other brands that I've tried didn't. It makes no sense but it is definitely the reality of the situation for me. It seems like this one blunts the effect of blood sugar on nerves and the others didn't.2. As you can read in my old review at the end of this one, I was nervous about thiamine increasing cancer risk. After researching that I found out that it is true, if you take a regular dose thiamine supplement. But if you megadose thiamine, such as the amount in one of these pills, the pro cancer effect is actually reversed and thiamine becomes anti cancer.I'm about to re order these and return the other brand I've been taking so I can go back to getting some relief, and get my confidence back that my nerves are being protected.Original review:I have to give 3 stars because I'm very unsure if this product after reading about thiamine's potential to make cancer grow fast. Evidently there are chemo agents designed to block thiamine for that reason. I've been taking this for months, just went through 2 bottles thinking I'm doing the best thing I can do to protect my nerves from the effects of high blood sugar. And although the studies show this works great for that maybe better than anything else and it's been used in Europe as a drug, learning about the cancer aspect scares me.Google "benfotiamine cancer" and "thiamine cancer" if you want to read some of the articles I just read about that.Update 10/7/2019I'm still using this, I've repurchased 9 times. I wish it were cheaper but I can;t do without it. I'ts preventing a lot of bizarre symptoms which I could write a book on, but they come back whenever I start skipping doses.

Didn’t do much for me
Purchased for my neuropathy but it didn’t do much. Probably because I wasn’t deficient. Pills are huge and can be difficult to swallow.
