Review: Strong and well made. - I installed this on my steps that lead from my house down into my garage. It went in easy and it’s very solid. In this application, it was mounted into wooden steps. Very nice looking and the handrail is just the right width for a solid grip and the surface is stippled so that is non-slip. Because it’s made out of aluminum it’s always cold to touch if it’s outdoors or in the garage like mine. If I need another handrail, I would buy this again. It comes with all the necessary hardware for installation into wood or cement. Review: Makes our front porch stairs safer - This item arrived in perfect condition and ready to install. You probably will need a second pair of hands to hold the assembled railing up and in plump while you mark places for the holes. Otherwise, it's easy to work with. A couple of observations: The screws that are supposed to attach the pieces of railing to each other are meant to be self-drilling, but don't count on that. Drill pilot holes first. Otherwise, the accompanying hardware seems of good quality and it has you covered for either a concrete or wood base to install on. The masonry bit included is the right size and length to make holes for the concrete anchors but I didn't find out if it will suffice to drill all eight holes. The included bit fits one type of hammer drill chuck but not the basic one I have. If you have a high quality rotary hammer drill it will probably work, but a Jacobs style three-jaw chuck will require you to buy another bit like I did. This is the hard part of the installation so don't skimp on bit quality.
