United Ortho Air Cam Walker Fracture Boot, Extra Large, Black

This is the 3rd, yes 3rd time I've fractured the same foot in the last 25 years. Same foot, same fracture, same way. I had saved the original boot I got for the 1st fracture because you never know when you'll need it (which is why I have a stuffed storage shed). I used it for the last fracture 5 years ago, but it's old and getting worn out so I opted for a new one with better support. This boot is great! At first I thought it was too small because my toes stuck out over the edge. Then I read the instructions, put my foot in the back of the boot and kind of pushed it all the way back and now they're fine. No boot like this is going to be super comfortable, but this one is comfortable enough. It includes extra pads so you can add inside where the boot might rub. It is relatively easy to put it on and take off. Offers good support, much better than my old boot. I haven't used the pump feature so I don't know if that works. I purchased shoes the same height as the boot as it adds a little over 2" in height. Overall an excellent purchase.

Don't let the el cheap-o price of this boot fool you: its a great boot! It's constructed well -- if not exactly the same-- as mid-priced boots. It lacks the fancy name but who cares?! I actually bought TWO boots here on Amazon (this one obviously) the one that claimed to be "low profile" really was NOT!! And it was more than twice the price of this one. However, Low Profile Boot -- which had a really nice fancy label -- had an impressive video & important looking pictures of the technology & proven statements that it was the same height as a sneaker. It also hyped up a rounder bottom. I wore it for 2 weeks, around the house only, and the bottom (which the rounder bottom was scary-slippery) started to peel off!! Here's the real deal: Low Profile just looked lower on the outside. The rocker bottom also aids in it looking lower. It is maybe 1-2 cm lower, in reality, than this boot. It was also really uncomfortable. The inside sleeve didn't go around my calves well, and there was something that dug into the inside of my ankle which was right where my incision was. The little pieces of foam (2 for the Low Profile Boot) were very thin and wore out within the two weeks I wore the boot around the house only. This boot is very comfortable. It doesn't dig in in any specific place and has 4 thicker pads of foam that hold up really well. I've worn this boot around the house and outside. Holding up very well with quite rigorous use. I wear a size 8.5 women's shoe and have on-the-larger size calves and this size Medium is perfect. You could go up to a size 10 I would think as there is quite a lot of room in the front. Some suggestions for the newbies: (things I wish someone would have told me) My suggestion is to get an "Even Up" leveler for your other shoe so you don't get a sore back or knees. You can search for it here on Amazon. It's about $30. The first time you use the boot, don't pull the Pull Up tabs out yet!! Fit the sleeve first, then, while sitting in a chair and the boot on the floor, put your sleeved leg inside the boot. Push your heel as back as you can. If you have tightness in the Achilles, you will not want to pull the Pull Up tab out until your ligaments/tendons have stretched enough to put your foot in at a 90 degree angle. So save the Pull Up tab until later. (it has Velcro to stick to the sides of the foot sleeve to keep it in place) If your Achilles is tight, stretch it out before you put the boot on for the day. Once you are in the boot, secure your toes first, then the ankle, then work your way up the boot. It's a little tricky with the Velcro straps at first. Mine would get all tangled up or fall off or stick to something else - if you stick the Velcro onto itself when removing, you'll always know exactly where the strap is. If the toe and ankle Velcro are too long, don't cut them!! Just bend it back and tuck it into the strap holder. Then it won't be hanging out. The blue inflator does work -- you just need to follow the arrows to tighten it when inflating, and loosen when deflating. Don't blow it up too much until you get a feel for how tight you want/need it to be. It will also POP if you inflate it too much or try to take it off when it is still inflated. Good luck... sorry about you wearing a boot -- but you are going to save a few hundred bucks buying this cheap gem!

ok let me preface this review by saying I understand my risks were substantial and I'm not recommending that anyone do what I did, I am simply speaking to my personal experience with this product. that said, I bless the day I found and bought this thing... did something incredibly stoopid on a ladder while preparing for hurricane matthew. fell while hearing the scariest of snaps, cracks and tears. I knew it was bad (and immediately began kicking myself with my still-good leg). managed to assess some of the damage (luckily, no bones were poking through the skin) and get back into the house. made a splint out of some flat pieces of steel, an ace bandage, and a knee brace I already had on hand. no way was I going to the er when all indications were that a cat 5 hurricane was headed straight for us, expected to begin the hit in about 36 hours. stayed elevated, compressed, and iced until the next morning when I managed to get to the computer and order this air cast. was praying amazon could actually get this to me in two days. friday would have been the day after the hurricane. would they be able to make deliveries? would the damage be so bad it could take weeks? then the wobble saved us but (in my biggest amazon-related disappointment ever) even though the cast arrived in town on friday and I got a different amazon delivery on saturday, I didn't get the boot until monday. the wait was excruciating, primarily because the only way I had to keep my foot at a 90-degree angle to my leg (in which position it was much less painful) was to use/hold a wide/flat bungee cord at all times. easier said than done... but the cast finally arrived, my bff (who'd gotten me some crutches the day after the injury) brought it to me, and from the moment I put it on everything was better. SO much better! just having my foot held "up" was a godsend. once my leg was resting in the open boot I removed the splint and ace bandage, strapped it up and added some air. I think it's better than a plaster cast. was in bed for several days, but when I wanted to try getting up I realized I didn't have the cast on properly. it had arrived partially inflated and I'd rested my leg on the inflation, then added more air. my foot was much too far forward; the ball of my foot was hanging off the end of the boot, and I wasn't getting as much support as possible because my leg was well in front of the two hard plastic "splints" which run up the sides. didn't know where the instructions were and probably couldn't have reached them if I did, so it took a while to figure out how to deflate the boot-sock. the little rod with the knob, under the blue "pump," has positions for inflation and deflation, so I thought it would just deflate if I moved it to the correct position. it did not. maybe I'm supposed to move it there and then hold the blue pump-ball? that only added more air. in desperation I decided to twist the knob, fearing I might break it -- but that worked! I completely deflated the boot, got the heel of my foot all the way to the back of the "sock," it was now completely in the shoe and my leg was perfectly positioned between the splints. strap, inflate, heaven!!! today is our three-week anniversary. I've loosened it twice upon realizing I'd strapped in too tightly and my foot was swelling, but I haven't taken it off. fairly certain I fractured both my tibia and my fibula (if they actually broke, they snapped back into place), but I was extremely lucky, and my leg is healing quickly/well. not putting any real weight on it yet, but I've done the same testing a doctor would do and so far so good. a few reviewers have complained about the "rocker bottom" but I am sooooooo very thankful for it! I'm able to wear my usual dansko on my left foot and there's no real height difference. the boot bottom is also hard plastic, molded in one piece with the splints, but there's some kind of cushioning in it that makes it possible to move about and rest one's foot on the floor without experiencing pain (I never take anything stronger than ibuprofen for pain so that I don't do something I'll regret; eg put more weight on it than I should, sooner than I should). the boot will work for either foot. soon I'll remove it long enough to wash the sock, and it's something I will keep on hand for the rest of my life though I plan to never ever ever do anything even remotely as mind-numbingly inconceivable as I did on the day I injured myself. it's a keeper! the pics are kind of gross because the cats like to take turns sitting on my foot now, and my little ledge is always full of sand and furballs, but you can see the boot. splints, straps, pump, and all. I love this cast!!! my leg wouldn't be healing nearly as well without it. being able to get things like this when we need them is truly a hallmark of "progress." I am beyond thankful...

A very strong alternative to what you’ll get at your doctor’s office. Knob on the front to inflate the boot’s bladders moves a little more freely than I’d like, but it works well and didn’t cost me $500 which was what I was quoted at the doctor’s office. I’ve been wearing the boot for three weeks now and it’s comfortable, sturdy and has supported my ankle through changes in swelling. This was referred to me by a medical professional.

I was recommended this CAM boot to help with my ankle sprain. It worked super well and was a lot cheaper than my insurance was going to charge. The size I got fit perfectly and it lasted great for the 2 months I needed to use it for. It does take a lot bit to get used to because of the weight difference but it is very durable and comfortable aside from the extra weight it adds to your leg. I do recommend wearing a sock or something cause it gets really hot and you can sweat a lot in it. It’s starts breaking down if you wash it in the washing machine like I did so just try to mitigate the problem as much as you can.

I paid for this boot like normal people, I'm not a "reviewer," I get no kick-back for anything I say. ALSO, I'm not suggesting anyone do anything I do! Get medical attention when needed. I fractured my medial malleolus. I was given a splint in the ER and orders to see my GP and ortho. We live in a rural area, our ortho files in once a month, and the day of my appointment, he couldn't see me due to inclement weather. He sent me back to my GP, but she couldn't do anything more than a splint. The swelling in my leg had gone down a lot (not completely) since my injury, so the splint was just strapped to my leg, it didn't provide support. I received this boot 3 weeks, 1 day and 1+ hours after my fracture. (Who's counting?!) Within 12 hours I saw my ankle bones for the first time since I was injured. My pain was reduced to getting off Vicodin and just ibuprofen. My GP was thrilled I got this boot! She loved the support from inversion/eversion, and that I could pump it up to the level of support I needed. She cleared me for partial weight bearing BECAUSE of this boot! This boot has saved me so much aggravation, saved my sanity, and probably saved me from breaking a few more bones on these stupid crutches! (Who invented these things?!) This boot will live in our first aid tote. (I could kick myself for not having it already). It fits right and left legs. It has an air pump so you can adjust the level of support you need. Between my spouse and I, we have feet measuring 9-10" in length and 4-5" in width. I ordered a medium and it fits both of us. I do get a sweaty foot with the boot on. (It's July) I take it off a few times a day to air out, but I see no damage to the boot due to sweat moisture. I've accidentally sprayed it with the hose while gardening, it dries out fine. The inner lining comes out, so I turn it inside out and let it air out for about 30 minutes a few times a day. I bent the inflate/deflate dial. It was my fault, I have a knee scooter and I laid my leg on it (prior to partial weight bearing) and bent it. I gently pushed the dial back into position, and it works fine. I compared prices, was a little worried I went with a cheaper boot, but this is everything I was looking for. I am SO thankful to Air Cam for making this boot available, and to the video makers who covered instruction on how to use it (there were no instructions in my order).

I have an ankle sprain that feels so bad when I put pressure on it or move my foot. I tried the Walmart ones in store for support but it barely helped. I received this one in the mail the day I had to take all 5 of my kids to Chuck E. Cheese and oh my this brace did its job. It provided enough compression and fit very good! Material seems of high quality. Very easy to put on too. Just don’t forget to put the tabs on both sides. Apparently I left one on. Even the brace the ER gave me did nothing compared to this one!

First off - I don’t understand why none of these boot sellers give a calf measurement because that to me is the most important fit after shoe size. I’ve been hobbling on a giant boot from the doctor just so I can get a liner that wraps around my calf, this is my 3rd boot because the liner shreds from the Velcro . Not everyone has little sticks for legs!!! This boot is 1/3 the cost of my doctors boot and it’s pretty comfy so it’s worth it to me once I made a few changes. The worst thing is the ball pump - instead of sitting on top of the cousioned liner it’s sewn all the way in and the hard base digs into your leg just below your knee when you walk. I cut around it and pushed it through so I can access it easier and the hard bulk of it can’t be felt. If you don’t like it sticking up (see photo) I’m sure it can be glued down but I don’t care that it sticks out. I’ve been in a boot for 2 1/2 months I’m over it, I just want comfort. The boot is solid- same weight as all of my other boots and the Velcro is strong. Having already spent $500 on the doctors office boots- I had low expectations for a $50 boot. For what I paid I’m ok with it and feel it’ll do the job. If it only lasts a month- I’m still saving money by just buying another one at this low price.

Excelente calidad precio (Me costó $1280.40 MX. En tienda física, aunque de otra marca me la daban en $1700). Es cómoda cumple su función al 100%. No pesa tanto en comparación a una bota corta de otra marca que tuve y la suela es cómoda, no se siente rígida al caminar. Algo laborioso para colocarla pero ello garantiza 100% de inmovilización del tobillo. Llegó antes de lo previsto. Es talla grande sin embargo consideren la extragrande ya que calzo num. 7 (27 cm. en México) y apenas me quedo muy bien como observan en la imagen.

Para las fracturas sirve excelente, es para ambos pies y se acomoda bastante bien y seguro
