It’s a long review but if you care about the value of your dollar and an honest critique, you would do good to read it.I have spent an undisclosed amount of money on herbal and nootropic supplements in the last few years.When I take it, brain fog becomes a thing of the past. Purity Brain Boost brings my workouts to another level and motivates me in my daily life and entrepreneurial pursuits.How so? Heightened awareness of the physical space that I occupy and my ADD is much more manageable.I should warn you that cordyceps, one of the primary ingredients in this particular supplement, is somewhat of a stimulant so do not take it too late in the day. Fear not, because unlike caffeine, there is no crash and also much less anxiety. Besides heightened awareness, the most noticeable benefits from Cordyceps is that it has the ability to boost free testosterone in your body (lending you more physical strength, energy and muscle mass) and it benefits breathing as well. There are studies to prove this, feel free to look it up. Potentially beneficial for men and women.The anxiety canceling affects are perhaps owed to the two other mushrooms in this product: Lion’s Mane and Reishi.Lion’s Mane is great for neurogenesis, basically the ability to regenerate and repair damaged neurons in the brain while also aiding relief from neuropathy. I work in sales with financial services, and as part of conversation and small talk, I like to tell people about the benefits of Lions Mane since it is something I’m so passionate about. Apparently the popularity of lions mane is growing and rightfully so. It has surprised me the amount of people that I’ve conversed with about it who knew the benefits already because their uncle so-and-so or their grandmother has Alzheimer’s or dementia and lions mane helps their relatives with their symptoms.Reishi is known as the great protector in Chinese medicine as its benefits are numerous, including that of reducing anxiety.Reishi is a great all-around adaptogen.If you’re hypoglycemic like me, know that some of these herbs can potentially lower blood sugar but it’s not likely to happen if you keep up healthy eating habits and don’t skip eating. Should go without saying.I’m able to speak about the benefits of the three different mushrooms in this supplement because I’ve taken each individually before and can attest to their individual effectiveness.I can also attest to the effectiveness of the other three ingredients in Brain Boost as I have taken them independently or as part of a complex as well before.Bacopa is calming and grounding, good for ADD.Huperzia A is also great for memory improvement.Lastly, Black Pepper Fruit Extract is the ingredient that ties everything else together and helps aid synergy. Also good for digestion and antioxidants.If I had one real complaint, it could be that if you measure out is servings according to the label, it might not last you exactly 110 servings, but it will be close. I don’t exactly know because I don’t take this product every single day, and sometimes I take more or less than the recommended serving size.I have to add that the recommended serving size or even less than is usually plenty for me.I’m hoping that this review is helpful and that you can reap the benefits from this supplement as much as I have.If you take this every day, the benefits could be less noticeable eventually. Obviously a review isn't a place to go into extensive details but mushrooms, especially Lion's Mane and Reishi, have been shown to help heal the gut flora and mucosa which in turn can help allergies and immune system health and boost energy and focus like the product is marketed. Like the mushrooms, the Bacopa extract is known for stress reduction and enhanced mental function. The black pepper extract is a good source of Piperine which helps the bioavailability of all the other compounds so they will stay in our bodies longer before being excreted as waste and so our bodies can utilize them more efficiently. *Note*I'm not a health professional and I'm not telling anyone what to do....I just grew up in a home very centered on natural healing nutrition and have continued researching and following that path into adulthood.I have used several different varieties of mushroom powders and tinctures in the past and none of them have been what I would call tasty so I was very pleasantly surprised to find this powder blend tastes very mild and almost like molasses, though it's not sweet. I have been adding it to either chai or vanilla bean black tea with a bit of milk before starting work in the morning but I could see it being good in coffee or a smoothie as well. It dissolves almost completely in hot water with just a bit of the fine powder at the bottom of the cup when I get there but I just swish around the last sip and finish it off. I also mixed a dose with peanut butter and ate it with a banana and that was really good too. The bag suggests adding it to baked goods too.Like I said, I have tried many different mushroom supplements and this one is very fairly priced for the 110 doses (meaning 55-110 days worth according to the instructions on the bag) of an organic and GMO free supplement.The first few times I took it I didn't notice much at all but by the fifth consistent dose I was actually pretty excited that I felt more awake and alert at work. I never felt any kind of speediness or shakiness like you can get from too much caffeine or some of the more stimulant supplements, I just felt more focused. I also never had any gastric upset or side effects in that area. I did notice my skin broke out a bit after taking it but I can only claim correlation not causation as it could be any number of things in my environment causing it. My body may also need a bit of an adjustment period when adding something new too so I'm definitely not giving up on it.I will update my review if my gut health and allergies start improving markedly, or conversely if I do determine the breakouts are definitely being caused by the supplement, but as it stands I'm really happy with it.
