The unmissable new Sunday Times bestseller about life in elite motorsport, from the Formula 1 sensation and author Surviving To Drive , Guenther Steiner. With a foreword by Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 CEO Toto Wolff. Fasten your seatbelts as Formula 1's favourite underdog, Guenther Steiner, takes you on a wild, behind-the-scenes ride through his ten years at Team Haas. From the first seeds of his idea to establish a new F1 team, to the challenges of funding and building that team from the ground up, Guenther shares the real story of the origins of Team Haas, immersing readers in the highs and lows of its first decade on the grid, and opening up about his departure from the team at the end of 2023. As Guenther recalls his proudest achievements, as well as the many, many disasters he has faced, he takes readers behind the scenes, into the pit lanes and garages, and out on to the circuits of the world's greatest race tracks. Told in his inimitable style and packed with hugely entertaining stories, outspoken opinions and unvarnished truths, this is Guenther at his very best – insightful, opinionated and completely unfiltered. Praise for Surviving to Drive: ‘A brilliant , brilliant book.’ Matt Baker, Sky Sport F1 Podcast ‘A gleeful guide to a bonkers sport from a loveable rogue insider.’ The Times ‘It's gripping to read. It's funny, it's real, it's exciting. It's a brilliant book.’ Chris Evans ‘Lifts the lid on life as a Formula One team principal. The book gives us honest , unfiltered Steiner.’ The Athletic Surviving to Drive , Number 1 Sunday Times Bestseller, April 2023 Unfiltered, Top 10 Sunday Times Bestseller, October 2024 Review: Don't miss this - What a writer. You'll be unable to put this down. You'll laugh cry, and commiserate at the same time. So good Review: It’s a book on Guenther, of course it’s amazing! - I loved his first book and jumped when this came out to get it. Price is absolutely on point these days for a book, it’s got a glossy cover too which makes it feel all premium and nice. Graphics are crisp and colour is clear. Printed text is nice and clean too with a clear font face used. The book pages are thick and glossy and have that nice turning sound when they’re turned! The book itself is well written and furthers into the life around Guenther, which is always super interesting to me. He was the underdog and helped put Haas in the map - his character has always been an interesting and entertaining one. Got the books and the T-shirts so he needs to bring something else out now so I have something to buy!

Guenther...the man, the sports, the successes and fails...
This is one of two books about Guenther and I want more!... I loved every page, it's such a pity there's only two books to enjoy.

A candid behind the scenes view
A great read for any F1 fan! The origins of the Haas f1 team are explained, without it getting too boring before Guenther goes into detail with each of the seasons. From the highs of double points finishes to the lows of the team languishing at the back of the grid, all written in Guenthers trademark style. It also explores some of the more candid behind the scenes politics, like the impact of covid and how the drivers helped or hindered the team in some cases. We also learn of the breakdown in the relationship between Guenther and Gene, without it coming off as a bitter war of words from a disgruntled former employee.

A well-written book and an interesting read
I will read anything written by Guenther Steiner. His books never fail to make me laugh. I read the first one, so of course I had to read this one too. They are so incredibly interesting and I really enjoy his insights into motorsports.

Buy this and look like a rock star!
A must for any F1 fan, if you’ve watched the Netflix TV Series ‘Drive To Survive’ you’ll be aware of Guenther and some of his classic off the cuff remarks or quotes. He might not have learnt English at school but the author of this book certainly did. .

Straight Talk from the Pit Wall
Surviving to Drive: A Year Inside Formula 1 delivers exactly what you’d expect from Günther Steiner—unfiltered, honest, and refreshingly real. This isn’t a polished PR version of Formula 1; it’s the raw, behind-the-scenes look at leadership, pressure, and persistence inside one of the toughest environments in global sport. Steiner’s voice comes through clearly on every page. He pulls no punches, sharing the realities of running a team with limited resources, big personalities, and relentless expectations. It’s candid, funny, and surprisingly insightful, especially when it comes to decision-making under pressure and leading through constant scrutiny. Whether you’re an F1 fan or simply interested in high-stakes leadership, this book is both entertaining and instructive. A fast, engaging read—and an easy five stars.

Very funny and worth the money
Reading this book I can hear Gunther's voice. Brutally honest as he is in real life.

Superb read
We get to learn more from people who have fought through failures rather from the ones who have been consistently at the top. Some good management lessons to learn - about handling conflict, working with the boss despite having conflicting interests, not worrying about things outside one's control and finally being yourself. This is an exhilarating ride into Günther's F1 career as the Haas team principal.

My foking review
A great insight into F1 procedures and shenanigans provided by a great story teller. I can't wait to read Guenther's future biography.
