I used this model to cut my hair and it works very well. This model has the longest hair setting at 25 mm - taper guard no.8 from what I could find online. None of the other models or brands have a setting that is this long. What this means that you can actually get a proper haircut and not a very short crop or crew cut using this trimmer even if you are not an expert. The 25mm guard ensures that whatever you do, your hair will not end up becoming shorter than this while using this particular guard. After that you can use the smaller length guards to shorten your hair on the sides and back. It is for this reason alone that I bought this trimmer. I had previously used a Phillips beard trimmer and compared to that the Wahl is absolutely amazing. It cuts hair very easily without effort or clogging. The guards are a little bent in some cases and I personally think its fine. Its made of plastic and you can just push and straighten it out. The plastic is of basic quality, but it is good enough and I don't think it'll break unless you really hit it somewhere. The machine itself feels sturdy. There is vibration, but I personally did not find it too much. It just felt normal, slightly more than a beard trimmer. The Wahl trimmer has a power screw at the side to adjust the power of the machine which will reduce the noise at low power. I did not change this setting and went with the default setting. Looks at several reviews here, I was very apprehensive. What I now realize that there are a few things one needs to do before operating the machine that will ensure optimum performance. This is a professional clipper used by barbers and hence its not as simple as beard trimmers. All it takes is watching a few YouTube videos to be able to get started and maintain this device. 1. Before you turn on the clipper make sure that the blades are aligned. In my case they were aligned and I did not make any adjustment. As far as possible don't change this unless it is clearly visible that the blades are misaligned. It is difficult to measure the small offset of 0.64mm. What is needed is for the smaller sandwiched blade in front has to be a little to the right (very little, less than an mm) of the bigger fixed blade behind it. Before you use the the clipper to cut your hair, the clipper has to be oiled. There's a five point oiling technique that is described in this video. Its very simple and do this EACH TIME before you cut your hair (assuming its a few weeks apart). The oil helps the blades to self sharpen and ensures longevity. Ideally you need a combination of both - a hair clipper like Wahl and beard trimmer to get a nice clean haircut.

You have clippers and then you trimmers (the thin philips-norelco ones etc.). The way trimmers work is different - they are better for shaping and trimming hair, but bot ideal for initial bulk hair clipping/removal.. thats where clippers are better.. trimmers just won't raise thick hair and cut with the same ease as clippers. So, on that front.. the wide-blade Wahl clippers are far better than the sleek Philips trimmers. The opposite to that is also true... clippers are not good at detailing and fine tuning.. trimmers are far better. If you are really interested in good grooming, invest in both.. Coming to this one.. it's the cheapest Walh design.. it's not made in USA like other more expensive design.. it's china made, and the steel looks like its machine made in some industrial unit somewhere in India.. but that does not make it dangerous, so don't be afraid ; ))) It vibrates a whole lot, so if you hold tightly in your hand for long, you'll feel "all shaken up".. I recommend a soft hold.. besides when you clip for few minutes at a time, with breaks in between, over a 30-45 min period, its alright. Build quality, otherwise, is decent. It heats up a bit, but not uncomfortably (haven't really used it for long periods, so can't comment about heating there). The additional comb attachments are extensive.. twice that of other Wahl models.. which is fantastic (actually that's exactly why I bought this over the next better model.. cause the 1/2 inch largest comb attachment with other models is too small for me.. and the larger attachments upto 1" with this model is perfect for me). I'd say.. for a first time user, you can go for this.. its half the price of the next upgrade, wahl super-taper. I'd use this one for a year or 2, and set my hands on it.. then upgrade to the super quality Wahls and donate this one to someone else who's a beginner or the naaee down the road : )). Also the Super Taper is double the price, and lacking in attachments.. so go for this one, if you are a beginner.. it does the job very well and is cheap, value for money. I definitely don't recommend it for professionals or salons, cause the vibration for all-day use can get quite overwhelming.

I've been using a Panasonic trimmer for over 11 years, and apart from changing the batteries a couple of times, it still works great. However, I recently bought a Wahl trimmer because I needed longer clip lengths, a corded operation, a powerful motor and which is also suitable for head. Beard trimmers like Panasonic, or any other similar ones, are not suitable for cutting head hair because the hair gets stuck in the clipper due to its closed design. I needed a short haircut due to hair fall and skin issues, and going to a salon every time just for a bald haircut was time-consuming. After doing my first DIY haircut, I was shocked—it looked even better than a salon cut! I used a 6mm guard for the sides and a 13mm guard for the top, and the results were surprisingly better than what I usually get from a barber. Wahl Trimmer Positives: Strong Build & Powerful Motor: The trimmer feels premium and solid, with a heavy-duty construction and a powerful motor. Sharp and Smooth Blades: The blades are sharp and cut through hair effortlessly. Wahl Trimmer Negatives: Extreme Overheating: The biggest issue is that it heats up dangerously within just a few minutes, becoming completely unholdable—almost like a hot cooking utensil. Unlike DC trimmers, which cool down after random turn-offs, the Wahl trimmer continues to retain heat even after being turned off. It only starts cooling when unplugged from the main power source. AC Power Cord Concern: The trimmer uses an AC power cord, which could become a safety hazard if it wears out over time. Final Verdict: I do not recommend this trimmer due to its extreme overheating issue. While it performs well in terms of cutting power and build quality, the heat makes it nearly unusable for more than a couple of minutes. If Wahl addresses this heating problem in future models, it could be a great product. Until then, I’d advise looking for alternatives that don’t overheat to the point of being unholdable.

Great product, comes with insane amount of accessories, including scissors. Tho it gets a bit warm on continues use, (as most trimmers do) therefore use it in intervals of 2mins, and it will run forever. Feedback, some air ventilation in design structure will go a long way.

Product seems good and it was packed like an expensive one too. But the one I have received is chipped. It has chipped near the clipper and there was a piece of tape holding it in place. I am unable to upload photos and contact customer care. The clip and piece of tape were holding the chipped part together as shown in pictures. Still using it due to urgency.

JUST GO FOR IT. I HAVE BEEN USING IT FOR 6 YEARS NOW STRAIGHT..SAVED ME A TON OF MONEY ON hair salon + I can cut my own hair whenever and wherever I want. ☺️ I bought this during Covid time in May 2020 (For 1695rs) and has been with me till this very day... ( 6 Years ) It's more reliable than a car... This is my go to for a self-haircut. Plus this is the only trimmer that provides 10 guards all the way upto 1 inch for buzzcut. No other company does....

Despite hearing a lot of negative comments I still thought of taking a risk. Haircut during lockdown is only possible if you have a HAIR CLIPPER rather than BEARD/HAIR TRIMMER. The big difference is the clipping/trimming length. Hair clippers have comb guards with lengths upto 25mm or 1inch. Hair trimmers on the other hand have max length settings till 10mm or 1cm. I used this Wahl clipper for my DIY lockdown haircut and i was satisfied. Clipping your hair for the first time can be challenging but after frequent use you'll surely perfect it. As far as the back part of your head is concerned you can take help from you mom, wife, girlfriend, brother/sister (stay alert for vengeance) etc. Use the No.8 (25mm) for the top and front and No. 4,3,2,1 for the sides and back for the blended look. Pretty simple. Good for someone who keeps his/her hair short and spiked. If you research on YouTube then you can also get an undercut. This clipper has all the attachments to get the look you want. Don't expect professional quality results as DIY is more of a makeshift arrangement. But there are smart people out there who can get a perfect haircut that looks professionally done. Just don't overthink. Go for this particular model. Truly value money. It comes with a zipper bag to store the clipper and the attachments. This one has 10 comb guards with different lengths. Other Wahl clippers have 4 guards and they cost Rs.4000 upwards. Gave 4 stars as the clipper heats up easily. PS: The clipper heats up easily in just 10mins of usage. But i still went on using it (my haircut lasted 1.5hrs) and it didn't give up. The clipper did not stop or malfunctioned. I received a made in China product.

Just what I needed but I noticed that it does not perform like the professional hair clippers found at barbershops. I had to move the clippers slowly in order for maximum effect and cutting ability. I pre-oiled the blades with the standard oil that came with the clippers. I’ve only used it once and I will give it another test run shortly...
