How do you turn on the "low battery hush"?"

Not sure, but my suggestion would be to replace the battery. What good is a battery backup if your battery is low?

When I unplug this device the green light goes off even though the batteries are installed as a backup. Is that normal?

When plugged into the wall outlet, it'll have a constant green light. When running on battery backup, it'll flash the green light every 60 seconds to indicate that it is still working and it'll flash red when the backup battery is low on power and needs replacing.

When I try put battery in or plug it in, the alarm goes off! Does that alarm sound stop? It's brand new

My unit kept beeping every minute. The batteries were not put in correctly when I received the unit! The problem seems to have stopped for now.
