Hot Smoked Salmon - delicate yet rich in flavor
This is the ideal product for lovers of hot-smoked salmon who do not live within easy reach of Pike Place Market in downtown Seattle (and that's most of us). I've always enjoyed hot-smoked salmon since the day I first tasted it. I regularly bought those smallish packs at supermarkets for something like $7-10 each. Then, on a visit to Seattle I tasted the "real thing". On later trips to Seattle I would stock up. Then circumstances kept me away from the Emerald City for some time; and I started looking for a replacement source: those supermarket packs weren't good enough any more. That's how I discovered SeaBear. Later, I discovered that Amazon sells SeaBear at an unbeatable price (except when SeaBear has a sale). Now I have a regular order placed with Amazon and they give me an extra 15% off from an already great price. I still recommend that you register with SeaBear to get notification of their specials and learn of some other products which Amazon doesn't stock. Unlike Amazon, SeaBear charges a flat $7.99 for delivery; so when you buy from them it's best to order big but seldom, as most products have enormous shelf life with no need for refrigeration. This product should not be confused with cold-smoked "lox-style" salmon.

Delicious but only one. Subscribed but delivery for the rest of the year scheduled too late in the month for only one.

Flavorful
Good flavor and texture, if you want wet packed salmon. This is not jerky. Excellent shelf life. Good packaging.

Bad Smoked Salmon or Good Canned Salmon: You Decide
I would think of this more as a good canned salmon, rather than smoked salmon. Maybe I was spoiled growing up, but I have a pretty firm vision of what smoked salmon should taste like, its texture, moisture, etc. This isn't anything like that. It's dry because they cook it in the container, like canned salmon or tuna, and it doesn't have that soft, flaky texture that fresh smoked salmon has. Everyone can get mediocre smoked salmon in their grocery store now, so this stuff would be most useful when camping away from civilization. The vacuum pack is nice, but they do surround it with an additional two layers of large and unnecessary packaging, along with some inserts with marketing propaganda. This is another frustration, as a Pacific NW company should be a little more aware of its footprint and the desires of its main demographics. Many of us care if there's that much waste for such a tiny piece of fish. If you go into this without assumptions or prior experience with good smoked salmon, this product is by no means bad. I ate it, and shared a little with my cats, who would not leave me alone until I did. They gave it two paws up. I think the product was too dry for "picking," but would make a nice sandwich with some mayo, capers, and green onion.

Excellent Taste and Texture
When I opened the package, I had some of the concerns that were raised by another reviewer. The salmon comes in a foil pouch with a small amount of broth. I went one step further and tried the product. I rinsed the fillet, removed the skin and dark meat and then separated the flakes in another container. The meat was firm, beautifully colored and had a noticeable smokey flavor. On the first day I made smoked salmon dip. I would rank the taste and overall quality of this salmon as very high, as good as any other store-bought products that we have purchased. The following day I used the broth and remaining large flakes of salmon in a chowder and again it was fantastic. By the way, my cats sampled the skin and dark meat and gave it 5 stars. Nothing goes to waste in our home. I will definitely buy this product again.

Dry, tasteless, overcooked, and near garbage.
This was the worst product, I hate leaving bad reviews, but for $60, what came was a dehydrated piece of fish, with minimal smoke flavor, and nothing like one would expect. If I could go back, I would’ve bought a 2lb tomahawk ribeye for the same price, and been fat and happy. Not only would I not recommend this product, I’d give it less than one star, if possible.
