Q: Is this a bad knife to buy

I initially loved this knife for the price, decent edge, great grip, no wiggle and intuitive action. The pocket clip will come loose but you can loctite the screws to avoid this. My glowing opinion changed when I was trying to break a car window to get an infant out of the summer heat and I hammered away far too long with the "glassbreaker" on this knife. I ended up switching to an asp. I havent tried the strap cutter yet but I bought a separate one so I dont end up counting on it. Positive note, it is a standalone strap cutter, not using the blade. Decent knife for the price, would not buy again due to the galssbreaker, which is now mashed because its too soft of a metal.

Q: Does the paint rub off?

No. The only place where silver can be seen is on the knife edge. I suppose if this knife was used as an edc and came into contact with body oils, sweat, etc. The paint would eventually rub thinner. But no painted surface escapes this. Overall this knife is one of the best I own. I just wish they made a tanto blade version. The drop point version is a great knife. Get one, you will see. :)Hope this helps.

Q: Is this blade considered a switchblade

No. It is an "assisted opening" style of knife. Out of all the knives I have that are considered "assisted" it is the fastest opening. You hold it in your hand, pull back on the protrusion on top of the blade and it opens. Excellent knife. It's made in China, but don't let this deter you from buying this knife. It is one of the best I own. Hope this helps. :-)
