This heats up quickly, but adjusting the heat is a bit more tricky than some since it's using a knob and the different temps are marked with small numbers. It comes in a nice protective zippered holder that looks like a flute case!It heats up quickly, and it smooths my hair nicely when I run quickly my hair through it. (Quickly because I'm cautious about heat damage.) The rhinestones are a great effect. I've never seen such an alluring hair straightener!Along with the great look and nice case, it comes with a hair styling "strap" with velcro ends, and two large plastic hair clips. It even has a protective glove (although I can't imagine you needing it - the heating plates are nicely recessed from the edges. )There's a switch at the inside center of the straightener, between the arms. I don't think that's the best place for it, but I've seen it on other appliances. But the dial for setting the temperature is in the same place, and the settings are written on it in TINY numbers. They're so small they're almost impossible to see (even though they're white on a black background). Plus, the shadow of the upper arm falls over the dial a bit, and like I said, those numbers are TINY.I wish I could give this 3 1/2 stars, because I do like it a lot, but I am really unhappy about the location of that temp control. So in light of that, I'm only giving it 3 stars.
