Yes, so long as its a soft seat. The female attachment is hard plastic with little give, so you’d need to allow for that and to position it to catch properly, meaning both angle, and placement back far enough, or by leaning forward to prevent leakage. Again, in that position, definitely recommend something like a u-shaped cushion or similar so one isn’t resting weight on the hard but. Ouch!

Could use this in the front seat of a canoe?

Haven’t used it there, but for females, the blue adapter is hard plastic. Future products recommend silicon instead if possible, for greater comfort/versatility. But otherwise could be done in canoe with modest cover.

compared to liberty medical pure wick is there much of a difference other than price.

The PureWick system is more complicated - it uses a vacuum pump and disposable "bananas" and is much more effective (when properly placed) than this gravity system. The pump is electric and makes noise, especially when actually extracting. These gravity type systems are probably more uncomfortable and difficult to place and become displaced, causing leaks. The price difference is significant because the PureWick "banana" is not reusable (at least they were not reused in the hospital).
