These are solid for their small size, and give plenty of clamping force for the bicycle axle mount I made. There are similar types that have a screw in the mechanism that allows tension adjustment; this would have made my use easier, but it wasn't too hard to get the tightness I needed: the hook that receives the locking wire is bendable with a pair of vice grips, so you can tweak the tension after install. That said, if you need bulletproof, unbendable, industrial strength in a small latch, you will probably need to look elsewhere.

There are so many ways to configure this type of latch (as an Amazon search quickly reveals!) and this one was just right for me. These are solid for their small size, and give plenty of clamping force for the bicycle axle mount I made. There are similar types that have a screw in the mechanism that allows tension adjustment; this would have made my use easier, but it wasn't too hard to get the tightness I needed: the hook that receives the locking wire is bendable with a pair of vice grips, so you can tweak the tension after install. That said, if you need bulletproof, unbendable, industrial strength in a small latch, you will probably need to look elsewhere.
