You can set it up for volume or alarm intensity and light dimming ability. Its definitely the vibration that wakes me up. There is a snooze button too. I just can't wake up with an alarm clock or my phone alarm for some reason. I sleep thru it. I tried this one and I love it. It's meant to be put under your pillow so your head feels the vibration and that wakes you up, along with a loud alarm noise of your choice, if you want it. This is great for trips. Seemed to hold battery life for a few days. Have only used it once. Be prepared when you set the time that the alarm volume will be loud as all hell and you can’t turn the volume down before that happens. Just don’t set it in your hotel room at 11 pm because you will wake up the whole floor. It’s a good alarm! Woke me up despite major sleep apnea issues and partial deafness in one ear.
