The Sea Wool or Hippospongia lachne is a very soft, very absorbent and reasonably durable. Of all the commercial sponge species, the sea wool sponge is the most absorbent and it has the highest water or soap holding capacity. Please bear in mind that this particular sponge species, takes longer to dry after use than the other species. So this is not the sponge for you unless you have good air circulation and drying conditions. Sponges stay in better condition if they can dry relatively quickly and they like to 'air dry.' At 4 - 4 1/2 inches, this is the smallest Sea Wool sponge that we stock. It is ideal for use in the bath, for facial care, for potters, craftspeople and artists. The Sea Wool also excels at detailed cleaning work as it reaches in the tiniest of crevices and you can control the dampness of the sponge very easily to avoid drips and runs. A natural unbleached sea sponge offers a great solution for people with sensitive skin. People have always marveled at sponges. Each one it totally unique. Collecting has been going on for 4000-5000 years. These sponges are harvested from the Aegean Sea and they are still vital to the economy and culture of the Greek Islands. It is always a pleasure to use and care for natural sponges and they make daily chores and routines much more exciting!
