good reliable drive but noisy when accessing it
Read many reviews looking for a reliable large drive to use with media & HGST seems to be the best option. Most of the reviews said it was more reliable at a better price point so worth a try. I have only had it for about a month or 2 now but it seems fast & reliable...I haven't done any benchmark tests yet but hope to soon. I do have 1 complaint that could be quite annoying...it tends to be a bit noisy when accessing the drive. Since I'm using it for media the noise gets drowned out a bit but not sure id be able to tolerate it if i installed it an my main drive. While the noise is a bit of a nuisance at times, the reliability is the most important thing to me so if this drive lasts ill add another star.

3rd Replacement Drive
I purchased a Mercury Elite Backup unit for my Mac and Hitachi was the recommended Drives at the time. Within the last 15 months, I have had my third 3TB drive failure on the unit. All drives are warrantied by Hitachi, but that does not say much. I finally threw the first two away after going back and forth trying to get them replaced. Hitachi wanted me to send them back to the purchaser and the purchaser( two different ones) told me that it needed to go to Hitachi since it was past 90 days on both drives. I am putting this third drive in and any more failures and I am switching to a different brand. This drive is used for business and I can't afford to have two drives fail at the same time.No complaints with any of the vendors, just the manufacturer

Enormous Drive Tiny Nvidia Drive Support
If you have a motherboard with Nvidia chipset you will find that the drive will not be able to be used as a bootable drive without sacrificing almost a full 1Tb of drive space. They (Nvidia) are working on support for 2Tb or greater drives but for now the drive can only be fully utilized at 3Tb if you use it as a data drive only..The drive used either way is packed with high performance features and it performs very well against any drive on the market (other than the hybrid solid state drives). I give this a very good review for the drive being offered at a very reasonable price and backed by a long 5 year warranty from Hitachi..

No surprises
I was surprised to find that this drive is one of a new generation of 2Mh MTBF 'enterprise grade' hard drive. The price I paid was substantially below the MSRP for the drive, and yet the mechanisms were new in the bag (to my relief, based on other reviews I expected something less desirable). The drives were well packed and a sector scan showed zero defects. I've installed them in a Thunderbay 4 RAID device and they seem to be quite happy. Hopefully in four years they will still be chugging away.

Very happy with this drive.
My NAS server's drive was starting to have issues so I ordered this one as a replacement. After doing my research I found this brand drive to have the lowest failure rate for this sized drive, although this size drive has the highest failure rate of drives over 2TB. It arrived on time in perfect condition. I have had it running for over a month with no issues. Very happy.

Great Customer Service
I would highly recommend this vendor. We had a hard drive failure on a critical server and I searched for the drive needed and found one. It was 3:30 pm EST and when I ordered it, it didn't have the option for overnight. I emailed the vendor and they shipped it overnight without costing any extra. Thank you for going the extra mile. My company appreciates it.Thanks again.

I'm sure the drive would be a great drive, if they actually sent me what I ordered.Goharddrive.com is a bait and switch operation that sends non-manufacture hard drives and tries to pass them off as if they were new and not messed with. I ordered the 3TB Hitachi drive, and instead received a 850GB OEM, that had all the proper manufacturer stickers present, making it look as if it were a 3TB. The screws were stripped showing that it had been opened and altered, and there were scratches present on the casing.Avoid buying from this seller.

Drive was DOA
Ordered 3 of these for RAID. Two work fine, one was dead on arrival. Now I'm not able to return it, but I have to buy another anyway because I need three of the same drive. Buy a different magnetic drive, 33% DOA is unacceptable.
