Missouri Meerschaum - Country Gentleman Corn Cob Tobacco Pipe - Straight Bit

This is a great smoking pipe. I just received mine the same day that I'm writing this review. I immediately smoked a bowl of my custom blend (Virginia, Burley, and Perique mixed in equal parts). I didn't "mud" the bottom. This pipe smokes sweet and cool. The stem was sitting tight in the shank. However, with firm but careful manipulation (while holding the shank and not the bowl) it twisted out just fine. This is a working man's pipe. Easy to clinch, and it can be cleaned with twisted up paper towels. This pipe is going into a daily rotation with a Grabow briar and a real Meershaum pipe. So, a $20 pipe is being rotated in with a $50 pipe and a $200 pipe. I can't believe that in my many years of pipe smoking I've always turned my nose up at corn cob pipes. This country gentleman provided me with a long (1 hour) and relaxing smoke. From now on I will always have a cob pipe in my rotation. As always fast and reliable shipping from Amazon. You just can't beat it for a twenty dollar bill. I have a decently large pipe collection full of many pipes that I paid much much more to purchase, but I find myself reaching for this Country Gentleman cob pipe almost daily for my longer end of the day bowls. It has even largely replaced in $200 counterpart evening smoker on most nights, just cause it is open throated and deep bowled and just a joy to smoke. I light it once, maybe twice and it just steams on along. Its not overly hot for a hotter burning smoker like myself, and I just feel the large generous bowl really helps to deepen the flavor and longevity of pure flavor as I burn down the bowl. I always turned up my nose at cob pipes because I considered them quaint. Then I bought one for my wife, smoked it and immediately ordered one for myself. I am leaving this review here now because I came to purchase my third because I find myself oversmoking the one. You might can find a better pipe exploring online or your tobacconist store, but you wont find a better one on Amazon.

Great pipe! Arrived fast and undamaged. Makes a great starter pipe or everyday pipe. But you won't be disappointed

I own two corn cob pipes. They work, they are not built to last as Mark Twaine so famously proved, but they do work and are affordable pipes. If they break or burn out, you won't lose your mind like if you dropped a meerschaum or were clumsy with a briar. My main issue with the Corn cob or this particular one is that it seems to have an almost waxy sort of artificial look. Now, I am no master of pipes, but compared to an older corn cob I own, this one seems too pretty. That is a weird quirk on my part and each buyer and user may have their own opinion. I will suggest that pipe buyers take the few extra minutes or days to understand what they are buying. I have seen Chinese imitations and lets face it there are a lot of companies who assume names and drop ship this stuff. If you are going to smoke it, at least know what you're buying. In the case of Missouri Meerschaum it is a home grown American pipe making company and stands by their product.

Perfect for smoking, my oregano. After a while, it seems to build a really nice cake and taste to it if you stick with the same brand oregano.😉 I pulled a little filter insert out of it, though after it starts to slow down when I pull on the pipe, it gets gummed up with oregano resin so I just pull the filter out and use it without it and the pipe actually hits better. i’m so happy that oregano is legal.

My favorite pipe they have been making them for years! Work better than most expensive pipes! Highly recommend for first time pipe smokers! Will always have this pipe in my pipe collection!

I really wish they would offer some harder stems or mouth pieces, whatever they're called. You can't bite on this at all. They crush right down and ruin the pipe. At least offer a better replacement. I have 3 of this brand pipes that are basically junk because I bite on my pipes. I was hoping this would be better, since it's 3x more than I paid for the other ones, but it's the same crappie stem as before. Have some pride, made in USA is supposed to mean something. Up your quality, who cares if it costs a couple bucks more. I want to buy American products, but you guys force me to buy foreign pipes because you can't make a good stem. The stem seems like it's made in China anyways. But maybe it's not, either way it sucks! Make your stems more solid like everyone else does. pensé que seria pequeña pero no, la cazoleta esta de buen tamaño, se siente bien el material. lo único diferente es que, según leí, es de uso común en estas pipas filtros de papel o algodón. yo le adapte una válvula de una pipa de resina que se me rompió. fuera de esa nimiedad es muy muy buena pipa.
