Kelly Bishop’s storied career has been defined by landmark achievements, from winning a Tony Award for her turn in the original Broadway cast of A Chorus Line to her memorable performance as Jennifer Grey’s mother in Dirty Dancing . It is probably her role as matriarch Emily in the modern classic Gilmore Girls that cemented her legacy. Now, Bishop reflects on her remarkable life and looks towards the future, sharing some of her greatest stories and the life lessons she’s learned. From her early transition from dance to drama, to marrying young to a compulsive gambler, to the losses and achievements she experienced – among them marching for women’s rights and losing her second husband to cancer – Bishop offers a rich, genuine celebration of her life. Full of witty insights and featuring a special collection of personal and professional photographs, The Third Gilmore Girl is a warm, unapologetic, and powerful memoir from a woman who has left indelible impressions on her audiences for decades. ‘Kelly’s story of her life and career is an incredibly engaging read, full of warmth, and honesty’ *5 star reader review ‘This is so much more than an ode to Gilmore Girls. Kelly Bishop has had an incredible life and career… [she] is extremely honest about her personal life and it was such a touching read’ *5 star reader review ‘If you’re a fan of Gilmore Girls and especially Kelly Bishop, you’re in for a treat’ *5 star reader review Review: Loved it! - I have to say, it was mainly the title that caught my eye and made me buy this book. But I loved every second of it. It was fascinating reading all about Kelly Bishop and the incredibly amazing life and career she has led. To be honest, this is the first book I've actually finished in a very, very long time. It's easy to read, hard to put down, and just like a warm hug the whole way through from my favourite TV-grandmother. I highly recommend this to any fan of Gilmore Girls, Amy Sherman-Palladino, or, of course, the wonder that is Kelly Bishop! Review: Great book. Lovely story about Kelly - Wow what a history, a life that Kelly had. Thanks for sharing it. Also thanks for dirty dancing and joining the Gilmore girls as Emily. Also I think you are perfect as baby's mum in dirty dancing and not the one you went for. Cause if you did. Don't think Emily would be the same. ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | Best Sellers Rank | 27,771 in Books ( See Top 100 in Books ) 7 in Film Industry 33 in TV Genres 38 in Acting & Auditioning (Books) | | Customer Reviews | 4.6 out of 5 stars 4,448 Reviews | ## Images ![The Third Gilmore Girl: Perfect for fans of Gilmore Girls - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71Rdm9vpAgL.jpg) ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Loved it! *by F***M on 9 November 2025* I have to say, it was mainly the title that caught my eye and made me buy this book.
