I initially bought this book for my friend's 9 year-old son because he enjoys playing baseball. I also wanted to help him find inspirational sports or baseball stories that could possibly teach him some life lessons. This book captured everything that I envisioned. There are four chapters in the book, and each chapter highlighted spectacular baseball players and teams that correspond to a life lesson. The first chapter centered around humble heroes like Lou Gehrig. The second chapter talks about players whose hard work paid off like Derek Jeter. The third chapter provided interesting facts about different famous players and even two games. The last chapter was my favorite because they discussed underdog stories of players and teams, including the 2016 Chicago Cubs' World Series win. I also enjoyed the story about Lou Gehrig. This touched my friend's son because it taught him a lesson about staying humble and taking his school studies seriously. From my POV, it appeared that my friend's son had an easy time ready this book while being engaged. I would recommend this book to other children who would like to learn life lessons through relatable baseball or sports stories.

I bought this book as a gift, and it is a little gem, perfect for any baseball fan and unlike any other baseball book I've seen. It contains 14 stories; some from many years ago and some from more recent times. The stories are told in an interesting way, and the tone is very relaxed and comfortable. Like you're listening to Grandpa tell stories from back in the day. But besides the stories, what I really love are the lessons that each story contains. Look at some of these gems: "In a world where many people are only focused on how they look to others on Facebook, Twitter, TikTok and Instagram, there's an important lesson here: be yourself. Whatever gifts you have, use them for the benefit of others, enjoy them, and carve your own path." "Baseball is like life. There are ups and downs every single day. But how you react to them will determine how you do in the long run." "No matter if you lose in life, or win big, take a cue from Maz; be a great teammate, a genuine friend, try your best, and great things will come. And when they do, accept them with humility and gratitude while also lifting others up." I purchased this book for my 8 year-old nephew. I read the book, and am currently reading through it with him. As an avid baseball fan, I enjoyed the book. Although I had heard of most of the stories before, the author still made them entertaining, and I learned something new in almost every story. The book is well-written and engaging. One really cool thing is that with each story, the author added life lessons, which adds an extra punch meaning of the stories. I do have a minor issue with the artwork—some of it wasn't really executed well. My nephew even asked why a catcher in one of the drawings wasn't wearing the proper equipment or a catcher's mitt. However, the artwork issues did not overshadow the merits of the book. I recommend this book for children, and highly recommend that you spend some time reading the book with the child, it was a great experience for me, and my nephew seemed to really enjoy it too. We had, and continue to have nice conversations about baseball, and the lessons in the book.

I really enjoyed the book " Baseball stories for kids". What I liked about it is how through out different chapters it gives different stories about real legends in baseball, like Satchel Paige one of the greatest baseball pitchers from 1940's and early 1950's playing I'm the Negro League. Also Daniel Bard he was known for throwing fastballs clocking 100mph. He was a hitters nightmare, one of the best ! Then he began to have muscle issues and he had to adjust to life changes. What I like about him is even though it was heart breaking, once he started feeling better he had the courage to keep going, practicing and getting back in the field, a true hero. From Lou Gehrig, Bill Mazeroski, Derek Jeter, Jim Abbott,California Ripken Jr., Robert Clemente ect. What I admired the most is throughout their great success in the beginning, they all went through challenges and telling real life events and also showed no matter what your going through it's okay to hurt, heal, and also get back on your feet again and start over. Love this book great for kids and adults.

This book really paints a clear picture of the stories of some of the greats that have ever played the game of baseball. Each story not only covers the game of baseball but really covers each individuals personality traits and true dedication that the players valued. As a big mlb fan and a collector of cards it was very nostalgic reading these stories and really provided a ton of interesting back stories. Another great addition within this book was the fun facts. I think this really helped keep my engaged by opening up the book even further. If you have a knack for numbers like me baseball is a fun sport with a ton of statistical data points. Overall this was an amazing read and provides so much history of the game and the players who have shaped up the mlb.
