Scarlet Darkness Corset Tops for Women Renaissance Lace Up Floral Bustier

I bought this to wear to the Renaissance faire, but it's so cute and comfortable I'm halfway wondering if I can find a way to sneak it into my regular wardrobe. (Why not?) I'm not overly blessed in the bust department, but the top does at least help to make the most of what I do have, and while this isn't a full-on corset--meaning, don't try to use it for long-term waist training or anything like that--it tightens sufficiently to enhance one's curves. I've loved almost everything I've ever bought from Scarlet Darkness, and this top now lives firmly on the Yes list as well.

I’ve worn this corset to two different ren faires and I love it! It fits true to size, is comfortable, and looks great! It is probably not as sturdy as some other corsets you could get, and also has stretched out a bit over time, however, it’s great to wear to a renaissance festival!

I've worn this to renaissance festivals in 2024 and 2025. Both the fabric and the zipper have held up. It's cute, and I always get compliments! It loses a star for sizing. The smallest size is too large for me. I wish Scarlet Darkness went below a size 6. I know women's sizing is inconsistent, but I usually wear a 0-2. I'm 5'2", my bust is 34", and my waist is about 27". I'm very rectangular (the opposite of curvy). I have to tighten this corset just about all the way to fit my waist, and it never really fits/supports my bust.

Scarlet Darkness wins with yet another great pattern and functional corset that is perfect for Renaissance festivals, costume parties, cosplay, or if you just love a good bodice and want to wear it any time. How you choose your size is up to you. In my opinion they run true to size and when sizing a working corset, as a rule you want to go with measurement you’d like to train down to. The boning in these bodices are sturdy and they work well for tight lacing so I go to smaller end of my size. With lacing in the front and the back, as well as a back panel of the fabric, you can lace the front completely shut and lace the back as you like. If you like tight lacing, I happen to lace. Mine fully closed and they do exactly the job that any expensive waist trainer would do. Or you have the freedom (with that fabric panel as a cover) to lace much more loosely if that’s your preference. This is my reason for sizing down a bit. I can wear it loosely laced if I want to but if I want a corset effect I can tight lace it closed. The material is very nice, although it might not be something that would be truly accessible in the renaissance, at my last RenFest I saw employees and even vendors wearing pieces that I recognized as scarlet darkness. The price seems high but when you are looking at RenFest bodices that don’t do what these corsets can do, you’ll find that you’ll still pay more. The material is nice and soft against the skin if you choose to wear it as a top or in the areas that an under chemise doesn’t cover. It’s smooth and doesn’t cause any uncomfortable rubbing. It’s built to be sturdy so I can’t say that it’s a breathable item but doesn’t cover much area so it’s easy to stay fairly cool. It can certainly be worn as a corset top with jeans for a sexy fun look, with a long ball gown type skirt for a formal event, it would still be beautiful, but I get mine specifically for RenFest or you could call it cosplay if you like. There are really only two areas with this and other scarlet darkness corsets that leave me with any concern. Aside from wishing that that they were longer… perhaps they will come out with a longer version at some point… my concerns are; 1) there is a partial zipper on the side. The zipper confounds me. I feel that it servers no purpose and that it detracts from an otherwise very well done Renaissance piece. When the corset laces fully from the front or from the back, there is no need for a zipper. If it’s functional at all it would have to be for someone who is wearing it VERY loosely laced and in exactly their size or maybe a size up. My guess would be that so many people might say that they run small because when you see a zipper on a garment you expect that to be the way to get in and out of it. This just isn’t reasonable for any bodice or corset in my experience. The zipper is also pretty delicate to make it less visible. I have a large chest and trying to use the zipper was a total fail. Besides that, as I mentioned that I feel that the entire point of structure and boning in a corset is for at least a degree of tight lacing. Which is done by…. Lacing. I would love to see the zippers entirely eliminated. 2) the laces aren’t actually laces. I haven’t had a problem with this yet, not even tight lacing. But it’s very basic ribbon rather than corset laces or a sturdier type ribbon. At some point, if anything here fails it will be the ribbons not staying laced or starting to fray or some mishap with the zipper because of the pull on the fabric. However, that being said I own several of their pieces and other a shoulder ribbon that one day didn’t want to stay tied, I’ve had really zero complaints and gotten tons of compliments on the looks I’ve put together using scarlet darkness pieces. With this particular pattern, I loved the new colors and that they coordinate with so well some of the new chemise dress and shirt pieces as well as the skirts. Tons of options as far as what you can do with it color wise. I typically do a fairy or an elf, so I’m loving all of the new color and that this one bodice could be used for several.

Love it! Got a ton of compliments at Colorado Ren Fest! I typically wear a large or XL in women's tops and I'm a 38DD, and the 14 fit well. HOWEVER - I can not put it on by myself. In order to put it on myself using the zipper, I can only have it laced part of the way up, and due to the size of my chest, I can't see down to the rest of the corset to lace the rest and hold it tight enough. You might need a trusted friend or partner to help with it!

i wasn’t expecting much out of this corset but i can say it exceeded my expectations. you definitely get what you pay for but it’s not a bad corset if it’s your first time getting one or want something cheaper. the modesty panel is sewed in on one side and can be difficult to get to lay flat but you could always fold and tuck it out of sight or cut it out if needed. i had issues with using the zipper so i opted to just lace it up like you would a normal corset and it was much easier to get on, just a bit tedious. all in all its pretty comfortable and i would probably buy another one

I've seen other reviews here praising this as a corset - here to say it's *not*, at all. I'm a frequent corset wearer, and LARPer. I bought this for a minor character I was playing. For the price I wasn't expecting a true corset but I assumed at least some compression and shaping, from reading reviews. The boning in this bodice is so flimsy it doesn't deserve the name - it easily folds in half. There might as well have been no bones for all the structure it gave. Another problem was a bigger girl, it basically felt like it was cutting me in half at the waist because the bottom edge binding has more compression strength than the boning. I ended up wearing this *on top of* another corset I already owned, just so that it would stop cutting into my waist and so I would have at least some stability and support. In terms of good things, it is very well made (for what it is) and the fabric is beautiful. True to size to the measurement chart - so make sure you measure yourself. I had lots of compliments.

SO cute and flattering!!! i got this for an upcoming renn faire. i originally got the 18 but it wasn’t as snug as i needed it to be. i sized down to a 16 and its a perfect fit, i dont even need a bra for it as its very supportive.

Was a little unsure but am glad I ordered it, it is stunning and the boning is fabulous. It took a bit to get on (I have a larger chest) but fit great once the girls were situated and was super comfy!

Initially bought a replica off of SHEIN because I didn’t think I had the time to properly source a good corset in preparation for the upcoming Renn Faire we’ll be attending. Once the SHEIN one arrived it was very clear that it didn’t fit and that it was cheaply made. Ordered this corset asap and once it arrived it was immediately promising. Tried it on and it is so comfortable, like incredibly comfortable, well structured, sits perfectly where you want it to, 100% customizable to size with the tightening/loosening. It’s definitely well made. I got a size 22 and it’s true to size, I would 100% purchase more from this seller. Thank you once again for saving the day!
