I got this chair for my daughter who is 5 foot 4 and 180 lbs. Though she fit in this chair, it was very narrow and the footrest was too high, leaving her knees up high which squished her belly in an uncomfortable position. This chair would be ideal for maybe a petite elderly person, but not for us. Otherwise, I like the big wheels on this chair.

This review is for the following item: Folding Ultralight Lightweight Wheelchair, Transport Wheelchair for Adults Support 220lbs with Foldable Pedals and Flip-Backs Arms, Handbrake & Storage Bag 12" Rear Wheels, Black (Seat Width:15.5") This chair came fully assembled. At first I could not get the chair to remain in the open position as it wanted to fold up. The instruction manual is a bit confusing, as some directions are out of order. But I decided to read it fully before doing anything further with the chair. The instructions are 1-2 sentences in English and then a few lines in Chinese. It continues on that way. So I took my time and read all the English lines and that answered my questions. There are 2 latches on the chair that must be locked in place to keep the chair from folding up. Once those are locked, all is good. The arm rests lift up and to the back so a person can get in and out of the chair very easily from either side. There is a seat belt already on the chair. The seat belt fit me perfectly with room to adjust to make it bigger if needed. I didn't find the footrest to be too high. But I am 5'6" so maybe if someone was taller it might not be as comfortable. The seat was comfortable and I fit between the armrests with no squishing. I weigh 155. If someone weighed closer to the 200 pound mark, the seat might not be as accommodating, but it is a transfer chair and not a chair that one would be sitting in all day. The handlebar is very different from what I am used to. It is basically one bar that goes from the left to the right and is how you push the chair. There isn't a handle on each side to use to push. The brakes are used by pulling up on the lower bar beneath the handlebar. It did take me numerous attempts before I was able to get the brakes to lock. When you want to unlock the brakes, you will pull on the red bulb that is on the left side below the handlebar. That unlocks the brakes. The chair rolls very easily, it is not hard to push someone in the chair. Even with the bar type handlebar, it wasn't difficult to turn the chair. When you are done with the chair, you lift up the latches which unlocks the chair. Now you can fold it up. Under the front of the seat, you will find a handle with a button on it. Push the button and pull out the handle. Now you can wheel the chair behind you just like a suitcase. Also included is a nice storage bag that the chair fits into so you can keep it clean if it isn't used very often. I find the chair in the folded position to be small enough to easily fit into a closet and it also fits under my adjustable bed. So it doesn't take up a lot of room. I am very pleased with this chair. I feel it is high quality and should last a long time.

Personally I believe it checks all of my boxes for a Aluminum Transport Wheelchair, I'm about average frame, 5'-11" in height, 200 lbs. and it easily supports my weight and frame in what some have called a narrow seat but that's what I like about it. I was looking for something that could be used in a home environment to easily travel through doorways of a home as well as transport someone with mobility issues to and from a vehicle, to the store shopping or to their doctor's appointment. I didn't expect for anyone to spend all day in this transport chair but if that was the criteria that needed to be met then I would suspect that a larger full fledged wheelchair might fit there needs better since typically they are equipped with better padded armrests, backrests, and seats for optimum comfort but it would be more cumbersome to travel with thus the benefits of the transport wheelchair are that they are generally much lighter weight and have a more compact design, they easily fold to fit in a car trunk, making it less bulky than a standard wheelchair. This particular model is actually a few pounds heavier than what I would call Ultralight in weight since it comes in at 25 lbs. but I've seen many 4 wheeled walkers come in at approximately the same weight as well. I found this Hopelight model to be extremely sturdy and very well constructed for its' small size and with my 200 lbs. I never felt that I was anywhere near the maximum capacity that it could handle although their stated weight capacity is 220 lbs., no doubt in my mind that the 220 lbs. is a conservative estimate. Some were adding that the footrest is not low enough but I found that my forearms fit the armrests easily and my hands naturally fell to the top of my knees so I wasn't uncomfortable as it's currently designed. Yes, for some an adjustable footrest would have been preferred but the whole point of a transport wheelchair is that it's meant to be pushed by a family member or caregiver, they are also transport friendly as I've previously mentioned and they're designed for more temporary use and it also comes with a storage bag to help protect it when not in use. I can easily recommend this Hopelight Aluminum Transport Chair for your consideration and I also feel that a 5 Star Overall rating is appropriate...

Sturdy. Easy to steer and push. Seat is narrow. We use a traditional transporter outside and plan on using this inside in place of using the seat on a walker. Wanted something that could be pushed under a table. Handle is less comfortable than our other transporter

Things I liked: #1 - It comes fully assembled. All you have to do is read the instructions on use. Couldn't be any simpler. #2 - Quality feel. Both my wife & I agreed that this was the best quality transport chair that either one of has ever felt/used. A very sturdy feel to it. #3 - Folds up. Two little catches prevent the chair from folding up when in use. Undo the catches, they're on both sides at the rear under the seat, and the chair folds up and is portable like a piece of luggage. Easy to transport #4 - Carrying bag. Comes with a heavy duty carrying bag which will make it easy to take on public transportation if needed. A should strap would have been nice but that's easily solved. #5 - The rear wheels. They're huge. Makes going over non-standard surfaces significantly easier and more importantly, safer. Rolls over grassy areas and gravel much better than smaller wheels. #6 - Curb lifter. It's the heaviest duty curb lifter I've ever seen. You could actually use it with a person in the chair and not have to worry about it snapping off. #7 - Brake. Easy to use bar type brake with release right under the main handlebar. Easy to use and locks the rear wheels. #8 - Design Considerations. The arms and footrest are designed to accommodate the ability of the chair to fold-up into an easily transported device. Things I didn't like. Not a dang thing. After having used assistive devices for a number of years I can usually find various things that just plain don't work, not so with this chair. It is one of the singularly best products I've reviewed. This chair is not designed to be a wheelchair, it's for transport and can't reasonably incorporate some of the things that a wheelchair can, i.e. weight restrictions and such. It clearly meets its intended use. My highest recommendation for those who need such a device.
