Everyone needs one!
The media could not be loaded. I love this thing and would post all the videos if I could. It’s so fun to get the little alerts that the birds are there and to see them! Seriously - if you are considering it for you or anyone - its worth it! :).

Fun way to keep track of who is visiting your yard
I'm really pleased with this smart bird feeder. I was a bit skeptical that it would be too much hassle to be worth it. In the past, I've spent a lot of time trying to get power, wifi, apps, all working together but this was a breeze. Super easy to setup and install. I especially like that the solar panel is not attached to the roof so that you can locate it separately from the feeder for optimal charging and optimal feeding. The whole process of downloading, signing up, adding the device to the app (VicoHome) was actually pretty fast and easy. There is a free level subscription level that may completely fill your needs but if you like recording and looking at motion detection activity one of the premium subscriptions might be worth it. They allow you to record longer videos (upto 2min vs 10sec) and have a bunch of auto detection features (some of which aren't really relevant to a bird feeder cam but are home security related).I did decide to upgrade to a premium subscription level to get longer recordings and keep them on the server longer. It comes with the Bird Fans AI stuff which, so far, usually detects the presence of birds and usually comes up with an identification. I know some bird species and I know it has gotten it wrong a few times but there are a bunch that I really have no idea if they are right or wrong. One thing you should keep in mind is that VicoHome limits you to one device logged into an account at a time. It doesn't just prevent you from interacting with the app on more than one device at a time, it actually logs the other one out so when you go back to the first device, you have to login again. For occasional use on an alternate device that might not be a big deal as so far it has always remembered my username/password so I just had to click "ok" on the warning and "login". There is, however, a completely acceptable and easy workaround. Just create a new account for each device. Kind of a pain, but not that bad. You can then share your devices from the owner to the new account. On the owners device it displays a QR code and on the "friend" device it activates the camera to read the code. Once it is scanned the owner device confirms permission to share and from then on the "friend" device can stream live video and access any saved videos recorded AFTER the share is complete (the back catalog is not included).Just be careful to always use the same user/device to be the owner of all your devices. If you ever decide to upgrade to premium and have 2 or more devices you will want to choose the unlimited device plan and will want to have all your devices owned by the same user. I have one user on my Mac desktop and one on my iPhone. I made the iPhone the owner of all my devices to make it easier to add or reconfigure devices while in the backyard. I'll be adding and sharing with more users for my wife's devices and maybe elsewhere (iPad? work laptop? I haven't checked to see if the app works on our smart tv, but maybe?)

Great Gift For The Birder Friend or Family Member
The 4 stars are due to the blatant subscription pandering, just about everything these days is subscription, and I am subscriptioned to death at this point. However, the bird feeder with a 128gb micro SD card works just fine, and I have a bird identifying app and a copy of Shelby's, so I am covered for ID'ing the birds that come to visit and recording their visit on the micro SD card. Assembly was easy, the roof does take some convincing that it should attach on the hinged side, otherwise it is a breeze to assemble this feeder. The camera tilts forward, install the micro SD card, attach the antenna, plug in the USB to USB-C charger, download the app, provision the camera to the app (the app is easy compared to other camera related apps). Format the micro SD card, download the update, set up the recording preferences, motion activation for recording, length of recording, SD versus 2K, B&W night or color, notifications which are plentiful, so I turned that off, etc… Name the camera and the location. The camera was responsive, obtained a strong Wi-Fi signal, recorded to the micro SD card, all in all worked better than expected, very pleased with the camera and the device. Range on the device's Wi-Fi is more than adequate for siting the feeder within 20' (6.1 meters) from the house, which in my use case represented 30' (9.1 meters) from the Wi-Fi access point. The tricky part is setting up the siting, I am opted for a pole with a squirrel baffle, they, the squirrels are opportunistic and aggressive where bird food is concerned. I sited well away from trees, they, the squirrels jump amazingly well. Do, be careful when you purchase a pole, get the larger diameter pole, the smaller diameter ones do not work. I did have to modify the solar panel attachment with a couple of machine screws and bolts so that I was able to attach it to the back of the feeder mount, worked quite well and stays put solidly, used a twisty to secure the wound up cord to the mount.Only a couple of birds so far, squirrels have checked it out, they are always first to try and filch some bird seed for a dine and dash dinner at the bird feeder. No joy, the baffle did its job, baffle 3, squirrels 0.

Enjoying the birds while comfortably inside our home.
This bird feeder camera was easy to set up. I put in a SD card and already was using the app. But the voice walks you thru the process. It said my SD card wasn't formatted. I didn't know what that meant. But lucky for me, the camera did and asked me if I wanted to format it? Ah, yes. Then it was up and running! You won't get the AI on the birds, but you also don't have a monthly fee.I saw a bird I didn't recognize, so I took a pic and put it on Google. Then I knew what it was. We know most of the local birds. But this was a bird migrating through. Very fun!We are having the best time watching the birds eat. We find them so cute. We really like that we can enjoy watching them, while they are not caged up. And we see birds we would have missed, if not for the camera!I don't know how people can mount these on a house, when squirrels can climb up and reach the feeder? So I put mine on a pole with a baffle. I had to use tiny tie wraps to secure the solar panel on the back where you'd normally screw into the house. No other way to have it up on the pole. But it worked! Really enjoying watching the birds. We get notice thru the app that there's traffic at the feeder. The camera's view is much larger than the feeders seed tray. So plan where you face it and you'll have that view as well. Towards the driveway? The street? Your house? What ever direction you'd like seeing better.
