Drains batteries fast, customer service no answer, WIFI module terms of service are SCARY
I got this to replace a smaller all-in-one inverter and I very much regret it. I have a solar off-grid setup with 300AH of 25.6v lifepo4 batteries and a small generator. I set this in SUB mode (solar - utility - battery) and the sun wasn't doing much so I turned on the generator and left it running all day -- only to discover that in SUB mode it ignores the utility power entirely if there is any solar, so my generator was just running for no reason at all. Okay, so switch to USB (utility - solar - battery) well that doesn't work either, because it tries to power everything straight off the utility instead of stepping it up to 240 and conditioning the output through the battery. The specs say it can take 90-270 volts AC, so I thought my 120v generator would be fine -- it rawdogs the 120v right into my 240 circuit! It does NO step up on the input. I have the 240 stepped down to 120, so it got divided my 120 and I was burning out my electronics with 60 vac. My old inverter was rated for <15w power-on consumption, so doing nothing it draws less than 15w. This one is rated for ">50 watts" (GREATER THAN?! BY HOW MUCH?!) and I believe it, too. With my old inverter if the batteries were above 25.2 I could count on them making it through the night without needing charging. I went to bed with the batteries at 26.5 and this turd had them discharged by 3 am. I got the wifi module making the reasonable assumption that it would let me connect to the inverter via an access point and that I could pull up a local IP address in a browser and see the stats available via the serial port. I was wrong. They want you to connect your Lithium bomb -- er, battery -- to a cheap cloud app. And the terms of service for that app specifically say that they will provide the Chinese government access to your device "for national security purposes". Like hell this device will ever touch my network!!! I contacted customer service several days ago via their contact form on their website for clarification on the utility power modes -- after all, it says it's designed for generators running down to 90v, maybe I just have a configuration wrong? Well Anern customer service apparently doesn't exist because I haven't heard from them. Save yourself the hassle and stay FAR AWAY from this brand.
