Wonderful book for beginners. explains what all you want to know abt JunOS. The piece I got was also in excellent condition inspite of the fact it was used. Very cheap too.

I work mainly in a Cisco driven environment, and use the Cisco cookbook from O'reilly as a useful utility in my day to day work. I bought this cookbook on the pretence that if its has good as the Cisco one then I would have no worries understanding the Junos IOS and applying it to our new Juniper routers we have procured - well it hasn't let me down in anyway.Its clear, concise and very easy to understand.I attended a two day Juniper course last year mainly for the forthcoming arrival of these routers and I can definitely say this book has taught me more in the two days of reading it than the two days of the instructor led waffle I had to sit through.I am now considering purchasing the Enterprise switching cookbook also.Happy reading!

great book, a must have...

This book is very useful. Unlike other books I have, it does NOT contain chapters of endless explanations, waffle, or pretty diagrams, it just gets straight down to business with a well-organised index of "How do I do ...?" then the commands you need to get the job done, with a discussion paragraph after each entry which goes into a little more detail and points out any other config you may need, and things you may need to take into consideration.If you have never touched a Juniper router before, this book is especially useful for getting started. If you are experienced, then you may learn a few new tricks and "good practice" from this book.If you only touch Juniper routers occasionally, this book is a great quick reference to remind you what you need to do for the most common features. Also good for any NOC that needs just a quick reference how to drive a Juniper.Note that this edition does not cover the new JUNOS flow-mode (ES) stuff, so it does not mention the new security policies, flow mode/packet mode options etc.

Good book used for £8 :-) needed as new to JUNOS, was having a nightmare on mx960s as been a Cisco fan boy my whole life. After a short while with this book and a few days in the OS I have discovered its beauty and am becoming a convert. Fantastic features in JUNOS that make it great to use when you get your head round it.. This book helps wonders.
