The old one had a switch on the side and while you could adjust the speed, that wasn't really something I needed and made it harder to use. I use this about 4-5 times a week to mix collagen peptides and instant coffee into warm water to pour over ice before adding a protein shake for my morning protein iced coffee. I love that it came with a metal stand, although the stand material/coating seems oxidized.
