If this is one time use only how can you use it to practice? Is it one time emergency use?

It is okay for test and practice,  designed for  ONE TIME use means that if you have used it for fire emergency escape, do not use it again. As the fire will cause the metal escape ladder to bend, and the fire may touch and burn off the polyester belt, if we don't notice this and think that the product is in good condition, if there is a fire again, using this already damaged product may cause injury or even death. With a brick exterior, our window width is just over 18"", from brick exterior to the lip of the inside sill. Will this securely cover that distance?

I have the same question, which I need an answer to before I know whether or not I can order this item. I ordered a ladder last week, only to find after receiving it that it needs a window sill width of 8" or less, and mine is 18" as the other questioner.

Why isn’t amazon or the company answering a very simple question about the minimum and maximum window sill depth needed for this product!?

can this ladder be used more than once?

Yes and no for this and similar ladders.
Yes you can use it to practice but if you fold it back up the company does not want to be liable if you do something wrong. Therefore they consider it single use. Likewise, if you use it in an actual fire and somehow it's damaged they don't want to be responsible if you use it the next time and it doesn't work. So it's all about not wanting to be liable.
