I bought the Subminimal Flick WDT Espresso Distribution Tool to improve puck preparation on my Sage Bambino Plus, and it has proven to be an excellent piece of kit. The biggest advantage is the clever flick mechanism. With a simple press, the needles extend for use and then retract neatly back into the body for storage. This makes it far more practical than many WDT tools where the needles are permanently exposed and easy to bend or damage. Build quality is excellent. The tool feels solid, precise and well engineered, with a premium finish that reflects the Subminimal brand. The needles are thin enough to break up clumps effectively without over-agitating the coffee bed, which helps create a much more even distribution before tamping. In use it is quick and intuitive. A few light passes through the grounds noticeably improves consistency and reduces clumping, resulting in a more even puck and more predictable extraction. This really is a fantastic WDT... I'm serious about espresso at home and your set up is weak without a good WDT. The Subminimal Flick has a lovely weight to it. The design is just awesome, the button press to release the needles and the flick action to retract them is so cool. The needle depth is brilliant, it can reach to the bottom of the basket with ease and it doesn't flex when breaking up the coffee grounds which is nice as some can feel a bit weak when in use. This isn't just a gadget with a unique selling point in the flick action. This is a great value for money tool that you absolutely need in your home if you're serious about espresso. I'll be recommending this to anyone that asks about my workflow.

This a really good product for any budding home barista. It is really easy to use and is very solid and well built for the price. It is functional and just the right weight without been too heavy/light. It has really improved my puck preparation and my espresso massively! I also really like the little storage/magnet which comes with both adhesive pads and magnets for flexibility. Highly recommend.

The Flick is absolutely brilliant! For sure the best WDT tool I’ve used. The needles are distributed in a way that both breaks down the clumps in the portafilter but also spread the grounds evenly. I love the magnet it comes with too; it’s currently attached to the side of my machine. I’d highly recommend!

It’s worth it. It breaks up and distributes the coffee powder ready for tamping. Makes for a more consisttamp and therefore more consistent coffee .

Not only is this tool strong and productive, but it’s beyond satisfying and fun to use. The magnetic aspect makes it handy to put it nearby and easy to grab. I’m very happy and would highly recommend this WDT tool for any coffee nerd looking to improve their brewing equipment.

Game changer. Don’t waste money on one of the cheap (or even expensive) me too WDTs. This thing is clever, compact, and does an amazing job of distribution. It also come with a stand and a magnetic holder. Buy it!!!

So I have quite a few WDT tools and I really didn’t need another one, but this was priced relatively affordably. Normally you pay around $10, and this is x 3 the price, but I’ve had a good experience with most of Subminimal products and I thought I’ll try this out. This comes with slightly thicker stock needles, but they give you three extra pairs of needles ( actually hairpin style ones) which are a little thick and can be replaced with included tool and a Philips screw driver, which I did immediately because the included needles on the device are too thick. The needles are actually a curved hairpin style, so you can’t pull them out like regular WDT It’s really well made , it has a magnetic design , I found the magnetic puck mechanism inside while changing the stock needles -that helps it to flick out on a button, press and flick in when you just turned it upside down and it’s really satisfying to use. I see what people mean when it’s a really good fidget spinner kind of relaxation tool. In addition they give you a magnet that you can stick on the wall, a very well made heavy stand and the device itself is magnetic. So you really don’t need these attachments, but they give them to you ,anyway And it’s all in a nice presentation box. So this will be an excellent gift for somebody who is down the Coffee rabbit hole because it’s made really well and works well.
