113 profound poems inspired by Taylor Swift’s music to deconstruct and decipher—each secretly corresponds to a different song! Are you ready for it?! Let the decoding begin! With a record-breaking four Grammy awards for Album of the Year, Taylor Swift stands alone in the world of pop music. One of the most talented lyricists of all time, her music captivates millions of fans throughout the globe with the narrative depth and emotional resonance of her songwriting. In Invisible Strings , poet, professor, and dedicated Swiftie Kristie Frederick Daugherty has brought together 113 contemporary poets, each contributing an original poem that responds to a specific Taylor Swift song. In a spirit of celebration and collaboration, poets have taken a cue from Swift’s love of dropping clues and puzzles for her fandom to decode, as each poem alludes to a song without using direct lyrics. Swifties will enjoy closely reading each of the poems to discover which song each poet responded to; each poem responds to only one song. The collection showcases a diverse and accomplished array of writers including the 23rd US Poet Laureate Joy Harjo, Pulitzer Prize winners Diane Seuss , Yusef Komunyakaa , Carl Phillips, Rae Armantrout , Paul Muldoon , and Gregory Pardlo , National Book Critics Circle Award winners Mary Jo Bang and Laura Kasischke , and bestselling poets Maggie Smith , Aimee Nezhukumatathil , Kate Baer , amanda lovelace , Tyler Knott Gregson , and Jane Hirshfield . Swifties will experience the profundity and nuance of Swift’s lyrics through these poems, while having fun matching the poems to songs from all of her eras—vault tracks included! For poetry lovers, this one-of-a-kind anthology is an unparalleled collection of new work from today’s most lauded and revered poets. Review: It's Taylor Swift!! - It's Taylor Swift! It's a very good insight into her writings and how other poets view them! Review: A Fabulous Find--This is a Book You Will Be Glad You Own - A friend of mine bought this book for his daughter, but guess what? It was my friend, a dad in his 40's who read every single poem and wrote down which song had been the poet's inspiration. When the list was announced he was so excited. That's the power of Invisible Strings. In terms of full disclosure, I was honored to be invited to submit a poem. I loved how out-of-the-box I needed to go to achieve something I was very proud of writing. And now, I'm working on an anthology titled Birdbrains: A Lyrical Guide to Birds of Washington State. My matching of birds (Northern Flicker anyone?) was directly inspired by this collection. Highly recommended!

Amazing
This book contains 113 poems, each inspired by a Taylor Swift song. The poems don't say which song they're inspired by, which I had hoped when I bought the book, but I found I didn't care so much as I read the poetry. The poetry itself is absolutely gorgeous. Truly divine. I make marks in my books for my favorite lines and leave Post-It tabs for my favorite poems on pages, and my copy is completely filled with highlights and has so many Post-It tabs that it's unreal. I'm a poet myself, and this book has inspired me to write more. Knowing these poems were inspired by some of my favorite songs (you can tell what some of them are, but others are more difficult) was such a treat. Either way, this is a top-tier poetry collection. If you're a Taylor Swift fan, you appreciate good writing -- and that makes this a perfect book for you!

Great Poems, Needs Somg Titles
This is a fun book with great poetry! I only wish each poem stated the title of the Taylor Swift song it was based off of. That would have pushed it over the top for me (especially since I'm not a TS person, but love many of the poets who are included in this book).

Great resource for high school English teachers
After seeing Maggie Smith give a talk in which she references contributing to this book, I had to order it for my high school English resource library. I’ve found that students enjoy reading TS and related literature - even kids who don’t care about TS still enjoy the pop culture of it.

Not what I expected
This just wasn’t what I thought it would be. The poetry wasn’t to our liking. I thought I’d be able to read these with my daughters (All Swift fans) and match it to a song. Most of it wasn’t our style of poetry. A few I enjoyed.

Great poems. Fun to guess.
Arrived in good time. Great poetry that really make you think. Beautifully written and nicely put together. I’ve only read the first few poems because, for myself.. I feel the need to guess the song it’s based off of before I move on. It’s hard and makes you think which is so fun. But I think I’m gonna just read it through before I start NEEDING to guess, because the quality of poems are great

An Ode To Invisible Strings
Invisible Strings is an excellent book! It’s definitely worth taking a look. If you cannot match the poems to their songs— Do not despair! This is where you belong. Keep trying, talk with friends, take a second read. If you own a white horse, perhaps consult your steed? At the end of the day, many Swifties agree: Reading Invisible Strings is the place to be!

High Quality Literature
this is beautifully curated. It’s a poetry anthology that you can enjoy as such. I bought this instead of the Eras Tour book and I couldn‘t be happier about my choice. I’d take this work of literature over simple merch any day!
