can it be bent 90 degrees to cover the the top of step and front of step ?

Yes it is flexible to where you could do this. It is also pretty stiff and you’d need something to keep it in place. I lined a square container bending it 90 degrees and used clear rtv silicone

How long it takes for the rubber smell to go away?

Took my mat about 4-6 weeks to lose the rubber smell. However, it wasn’t a strong smell to begin with.

What is a thickness of it?

I have not measured the thickness, however the roll IS heavy, so it's heavy duty. When I unrolled the whole length, and I needed the whole length, I had to weigh down the end because it wanted to curl again. After a day with another carpet on the end to hold it down, the curling memory was eliminated.

Will this work in a chicken coop under bedding material?
