Pure Magnesium Bisglycinate is a bulky molecule; to get 220mg of actual magnesíum, you'd need a pill weighing at least 1.5g to 1.8g. However, these tablets only weigh about 1.22g. This means they've almost certainly "buffered" it with cheap Magnesium Oxide, a much smaller molecule-to hit that high dose without making the pill huge. The "scam" isn't the amount of magnesium , you're getting what you paid for it's the low absorbable form. Its a mixture of bisglycinate and magnesium oxide, magnesium bisglycinate has high absoroption, 40 to 50percent of consumed from magnesium bisglycinate is absorbed, but only around 5 percent of consumed magnesium from magnesium oxide is absorbed by the body, so consider the tablet has equal proportions of magnesium bisglycinate and magnesium oxide forms, then only around 50mg magnesium is absorbed by our body(if we are lucky) , whats more? the high doseage 220mg in a single pill poor magnsium oxide form also stays in the gut longer, this causes water to be drawn in the guts due to magnesium staying in the gut longer and may cause diarrhea. Whats worse is, according to the indian law and fssai, this is legal, and multiple companies do this.
