Excellent, good quality, and simple to use
I’ve never had one of these before until now. It’s amazing how accurate this Meter is for measuring gloss levels. I used it for measuring the sheen level on hardwood flooring finishes. Very accurate. It self calibrates. Most meters only measure at 60°. This one does 20°, 60° and 85° it just gives you more to compare things to.

Cool way to measure gloss.
This thing is really cool. It had never occurred to me that you could measure a level of gloss, although of course there are units and definitions for everything. It makes a lot of sense in some ways, as you want gloss or matte for certain applications. And once I got started measuring gloss, I kept finding other things I wanted to test, and it got me thinking about why a product had gloss or lack thereof. The instructions are pretty bad, but you can more or less figure it out. And that's really the only reason I took away a star. Also, I can't seem to get it to stay off while charging, which irks me, but it also says it does an insane amount of readings before needing another charge (I almost think it said 300,000, but don't quote me on that), so I guess I won't have to charge it often. It has a base that it calibrates itself to before every use, and the base also protects the meter. Neat stuff.

Very accurate
This Gloss Meter comes with a test report from a professional testing agency, which tests and records its measurement performance and error values in detail. I simply used it a few times and the results seemed reliable. It is very rare to buy such a professional meter whose performance is completely transparent to the user.

Inconsistent and questionable results - can't trust it.
Wildly inconsistent across the same surface. Glossy surfaces often read lower gloss than matte, and vice-versa.
