how thick is the shaft (diameter)?

I checked the diameter with a digital vernier and it varies a bit but the diameter is about 26.1 mm - 26.8 mm depending where you measure. That is just over one inch in old money. Feels quite solid.

Hi, I chose the Wolf-Garten ZM170 170 cm Multi-Change Wooden Handle because of its length at 170 cm (67 inches, 5' 7"). This is longer than most 'standard' handles. I don't need to stoop with it so can recommend it for better comfort.
