There is no shade whatsoever. The morning sun hits one side of my house and the afternoon hits the other and its brutal in the summer. I used to stand in the bathroom and break a sweat from the sun pouring in. There is a tremendous difference now. BUT. Its nearly impossible to get it on without creases and bubbles. Be careful removing the back film, it sticks to itself and its hard to separate once the film is removed. I love that it comes with tools.
