Can you change the direction of the snow being thrown? If so, by how much? Can it take a hard left /right turn for throwing like a snowblower would?

Thank you for your question. The baffles can be moved to the right or the left, but they can not be adjusted to a 90 degree angle like larger snow throwers with a chute.

How many belts on this snow blower

There are two belts , one small toothed belt from electric motor to a jack shaft, and a ribbed longer but thinner belt from jack shaft to a plastic pully that is lobe connected to the external blade that spins and throws the snow. Small toothed belt is the most likley to fail if you over do it. the belt number is: HTD 126-3M-18

Can I leave it outside unprotected during the winter?

Since this unit has an electrical motor, I would not recommend exposing motor to the elements for long periods. The unit takes up less room than a hoover vacuum and I keep mine stowed in the back corner of my unheated garage year round. Note, any snow removal devices should be at ambient outside temperatures prior to use or snow will freeze to the surfaces. If covered unheated storage is not an option, I would cover loosely with a modified plastic tote to protect motor from dirt & moisture, while allowing unit to dry after use. Anything mechanical if left outside unprotected winter or summer will corrode, deteriorate & become unserviceable. KEEP DRY as much as possible.
