Number Facts & Jumping Jacks: Matching Learning Activities to Learning Readiness (Early Learning Success)

Excellent resource
I heard about this book at the Differentiated Instruction Conference in Las Vegas. At the conference, I was made aware of the profound connection between gross-motor skills and academic readiness. With school budget cuts, so many students do not have proper physical education. I realized that I needed to stop bemoaning the fact that we don't have a P.E. teacher and take that task upon myself. However, instead of just playing random games with the kids, I needed a plan. The gross motor section of the book ("Jumping Jacks") gives activities for developing specific gross-motor skills that kids need. The "Number Facts" section has activities for helping struggling students develop numeracy. I plan to incorporate these activities into my math interventions. Honestly, I can't recommend this book enough. Buy it!
