I dove into this second installment of the Dream Harbor Series expecting another lighthearted escape, but what I found was even better: a sequel that outshines the original. Itโs rare for follow-ups to hit that sweet spot, but this one didโand I devoured it in just a few days. By Book 2, the magic of small-town storytelling really kicks in. The world-building is already in place, familiar faces return, and the charm of Dream Harbor feels like home. While the Gilmore Girls vibe still lingers, this novel confidently carves out its own identity. It leans less on quirky townsfolk and more on the heart of the story: Hazel and Noah. Hazel, the endearing bookseller, stumbles upon a secret message tucked inside a book. What follows is a whimsical scavenger hunt filled with hidden codes, unexpected twists, and a slow-burn romance that simmers like fresh cinnamon buns straight from the oven. Enter Noahโthe gorgeous, adventurous fisherman whoโs been quietly crushing on Hazel. Their chemistry is undeniable, and watching their relationship unfold amid the mystery is pure joy. The pacing is solid, though a few chapters stretch a bit long. Still, the romance and intrigue kept me hooked. Mentions of events from The Pumpkin Spice Cafรฉ add a lovely continuity, making it feel like youโre catching up with old friends. If you love cozy mysteries, sweet romances, and small-town charm, The Cinnamon Bun Book Store is a delicious treat you wonโt want to miss.

Cozy romance with spice โจ
Genre:Cozy romance with spice The Cinnamon Bun bookstore is a cozy feel good romance, when Hazel stumbles across a secret cryptic message in one of the books at the store ,she tries to shrug it off but something piqued her curiousity, she is after all turning 30 and she hasn't done anything fun but she needs a little nudge in the right direction to go with the little message prompts, enter Noah,a charming adventurous fisherman who have had a crush on Hazel for the longest of time and if it's this little scavenger hunt that can bring them close so be it. This was my first Laurie Gilmore book and I did hear the first book was a way better than this one,I did assume this was a fun little small town romance with fall vibes but it was centered around summer and somewhere along the lines the story took a turn from being cute and slightly naughty to heavy on spice atleast the ending was cute but it could have been better yk,I am still sad at the fact that this isn't an autumn romance like I had hoped it was. I am guilty of skimming through certain parts but I was there for all the cute Noah and Hazel moments and we did have potential for a lot of fun moments and a better plot.I do agree that the Hazel Noah moments had all the cute classic rom come elements and I was expecting a bit more of those, their chemistry is definitely something that carries the whole book.Pick this one up if you want a spicy small town romance with a book girl and a boy who loves a bit of trouble falling for each other.

Cute and spicy
This was such a cute, spicy read. I love the slow narrative that ends with a strong punch. But I would have loved more character development and a little bit of twists in the plots. The writing is good, both the quality and style.

Perfect sequel
The Cinnamon Bun Bookstore by Laurie Gilmore is the second book in the Dream Harbor series, following the success of The Pumpkin Spice Cafรฉ. I made sure I read the first book before I set myself up to read this one. It is a delightful cozy mystery filled with romance and small-town charm. The story revolves around Hazel Kelly, the manager of the Cinnamon Bun Bookstore (the name of the store keeps changing), who discovers mysterious messages hidden in books throughout her store. Books each time are made to stand crooked in shelves which when opened have dog ears in a page which hold clues that are highlighted. Hazel initially is hesitant and tries to hide it from Noah when he makes a sudden appearance. Noah is a handsome hunk whose had a crush on her for years. Noah also gives her a slight nudge to follow these clues. Hazel whoโs wanted to do something adventurous and interesting once she turns thirty in a few days is determined to uncover the source of these clues, and solicits the help of Noah. As they follow the trail of clues, their undeniable chemistry leads to a blossoming romance. Itโs all lovey-dovey at many places, I especially loved the encounters at the blueberry bushes. But I felt it got spicier at many places, and I felt an overdose.

The Cinnamon Bun Bookstore is the second book in the Dream Harbor series by Laurie Gilmore and itโs another really cute, comforting small town romance read. The banter is quote-worthy, the romance is heart-warming and character growth and insight is significant. This story follows Hazel, the steady, quiet, responsible bookstore worker who is on the verge of turning thirty and regrets her โsafeโ existence. She wants to break the mold that sheโs created for herself, live without regrets, try new things and enjoy a summer of fun. When she begins to find clues in random books in the romance section that have highlighted quotations, she considers it her call to action and decides to follow them like a treasure hunt. Noah is the town playboy who runs fishing tours and is happiest when outside. Heโs as nice as can be, but feels like he has disappointed his family and is a not worthy of high esteem. He agrees to help Hazel follow the clues and fulfill her summer of fun, but is he in it only for the summer? The plot is light and sweet, the story is entertaining and easy to read, and though there were times when the lack of communication trope was just as frustrating as it always is, it was still an enjoyable summer read. It was a bit repetitive with its constant declarations of personal failure and flaws, and more steamy that Iโd prefer, but overall, The Cinnamon Bun Bookstore is a delightful story and even better than the first!
