VOCIC Z51 Walker for Seniors, 2 in 1 Walker Wheelchair Combo, All Terrain

Got this for my senior mom for a trip to Europe. Although she doesn’t typically use mobility aids, she has a rollator for extended walking on excursions so she can sit to rest. Since our trip would include extensive walking for 2 weeks we got this since it has feee rests and was advertised as all-terrain with front wheels that are larger than most other items of this type. I also saw a review where a woman used this on cobblestones without issue so I took a chance. This was excellent! It was extremely easy and quick to assemble and it was easy to transport on the plane, ship and taxis since it collapses and the foot rests for easily into the basket. I did attach address labels with our phone number to the foot rests and rollator as well as get a luggage strap to secure it when it was collapsed because it doesn’t maintain the folded position if moved. In several taxis we had to unscrew/remove the front wheels because the vehicle capacities are smaller in Europe…but most of the time we only had to lower the handles to make it fit. The only concern we had when collapsing the rollator was the brake lines. They would stick out and could get caught on things if not careful, including when raising the handles. The included Velcro helped hold it against the frame but there was slack when folding/lowering the handles. We pushed my mom frequently to save time and when the surface was uneven (which was often). The front wheels rotate but if they weren’t turned in the forward position it would be difficult to move the rollator at first. If someone would just forcefully push it, I think it could break the front wheel. This is especially true on uneven surfaces—the cobblestones at Italian sites (Colosseum, Pompeii, old streets, etc) were difficult at times to navigate. While pushing my mom if there was a larger gap, my husband and I would each have to lift up on the front wheel while he pushed the chair over the hump/divot in the pavement. This happened on thresholds on sidewalks and streets but we eventually figured out that we could cross at an angle. The foot rests were quick and simple to attach and take off. Be careful to always put them in the basket under the seat after removing them so you don’t forget them at a restaurant! Even with the foot rests in the basket there was room to store other items. Also be careful when turning the chair if the person’s heels aren’t fully on the foot rests. My mom would sometimes have her feet closer to her so the wheels would hit her when trying to turn. We eventually figured out what she was doing and she isn’t fragile but it could be jarring to others and was a nuisance at best. I think it would have been nice if the angle/length of the foot rests were adjustable, but the simplicity was a huge plus so it is just something to be aware of. On level surfaces it was extremely easy to push my mom. On cobblestones or slanted sidewalks it could be challenging and at times a workout in itself! I don’t know if a standard wheelchair would have been easier to push in these circumstances but my mom is fortunate to only need this rollator and it was far less cumbersome than a WC. We highly recommend this rollator and are extremely satisfied with its ability to easily and safely transport my mom on our big trip. Without it we wouldn’t have been able to cover so much area and see so many sites!

I usually walk with a rollator, but my daughter had a destination wedding that required flights and challenging walking. This rollator/ wheelchair was perfect. It requires a bit more to get it in the trunk than my regular rollator, but it’s definitely worth it. I felt safe being pushed. We used it as a wheelchair over some really rough cobble stone streets. I am 5’8 and weigh 175 lbs. for reference. It required very little assembly and the brakes are strong. I did a lot of research before I bought this model and it paid off.

While I've only used this around my house instead of an actual road test I have this to say so far. It's sturdy, seems well made, easy to turn, and even fits through hard to turn through doors. The seat is a bit hard, but it does support you. The back rest is good, but there are a few spots they could have stitched better to avoid mildly sharp edges. It went together easy, but for someone with limited strength they would need to have a helper. If I like it that much, why did I give it just 4 stars? It's heavy. So again, someone with limited strength will need a second person to get it in or out of a car. Also, the foot rests don't swivel out of the way, they pull on and off. Let's face it, kind of obnoxious for getting into and out of a car as they could fall off in a parking lot while trying to put them back on. If the foot rests were ATTACHED so they pivot out of the way, or down to help it would be MUCH better.

I just received my new Z51 Shift model rollator/transport chair today and I'm giving my initial impressions. It's a well-thought-out design for a very useful dual-purpose chair. I researched every similar style dual purpose chair I could find online and this seems to have more great features and sturdier construction than any other I found for the price - the trade off is it's a bit heavy. I especially like the much sturdier wider, treaded wheels. I can see why most of the reviews are so positive. I made mental notes from a helpful reviewer who said it's easier to make tight turns if the 'pusher' taps one brake: right brake to turn right, left brake to turn left. And I can see why it's important to keep the swivel wheels turned forward over uneven surfaces, otherwise you could put undo sideways pressure on the wheel yoke and risk it breaking, as some have done. I guess we can't expect it to steer or push like a grocery cart, with our loved one in it. The weight is more vertical than a cart. And, with those 8" rear wheels, we also can't expect it to handle like a standard wheelchair either. But most folks will have no trouble at all. I did have one frustrating problem putting it together though. At least at first look, the 2 larger swiveling wheels appear to be interchangeable for either side but they are not. Their plastic fittings into the chair legs have a brass insert on only one side, which I found out must be facing the chair's inward side so the knob can screw all the way in from the outside. There's nothing in the instructions for this, which made for very frustrating trial and error. Regarding assembly: As others have mentioned, it would be VERY helpful if they would label the various wheels and handles with stickers, with corresponding stickers on the matching sides of their mated parts: A to A, B to B and so on. But then, you only have to assemble it once, and you're done. One drawback so far: Be aware that the "cushioned" seat is very hard. So for now, I'm using a cushion on top. The hooking of the foot rests onto the sides is fussy and a hinge arrangement would be nice instead. But some folks might want to use it as a rollator without the footrests with their added weight. All that said, I look forward to a bit more freedom to get around and get out more easily with the help of this wonderful chair and my 'pushy' friends. Update 2-1-25: BE AWARE. Took the chair for a 3-hour outing and found some challenges. Yes, as other reviewers have mentioned, it is difficult to push a seated person over even small transitions like from cement onto asphalt. Even more difficult if there's even a tiny bit of an incline involved. Also, I'm 5'2" with narrow shoulders and the handles made for a very tight fit and zero wiggle room. Wish the seat back was a bit higher for better support and chair balance.

We just received this a couple of days ago for my husbands use. He is 6'2" tall and weighs 200 pounds. I am 5'2" and age 77. It is sturdy and easy to assemble. But here are the down sides: I found that pushing him is not easy unless on smooth flat surface. I am able to push him over a small crack or threshold easily. If there is a curb of any kind he will have to get out of the transport seat to get across. I have noticed that for him, the back band is not really high enough. His height is more in his torso area so there is limited support there. While the chair is rated to accept 300 lbs. I doubt anyone of that weight would fit. It is a tight fit in the width for him and the handles are at the highest point. The last thing I noticed is that the foot rests only allow you to put a portion of your heal area on the plate due to the strap that holds the plate in position. I do like that the foot rests can be removed in order to decrease the overall weight for loading and unloading and that they can be put on facing to the back/under if not needed while in the chair. I purchased this more as a precaution at this point in time and he is able to use it as a walker/rollator. He will need to practice using the hand break. I am hopeful that any circumstances for needing as a transport chair will work out ok. I am keeping this because I don't see a better option at this time. UPDATE!!!! The seller contacted me and we reach an agreeable solution. Would not hesitate to do business with them again.

This has been a great choice for my mom. It is very sturdy, gives a smooth walk. Other can be shaky. It is heavier but worth the effort for my mom's safety. Love that she can sit and be pushed easily if she gets too tired.

I purchased this for myself, and I do not regret it. It is lightweight and I am able to take it everywhere. Smooth maneuverability, folds easily, and the handles lock the brakes in place with ease. The adjustable height for the handles is an incredible feature! I am 5'4" and I was able to adjust the handles when my brother, who is 6 ft, was pushing my chair. It took mere seconds to change the height. The chair is so sturdy and comfortable! Since it is both a walker and a wheelchair, it saves me from transporting two pieces of medical equipment. Please do yourself or your loved one a favor and purchase this product! *** Flight Suggestion: Strap the foot pedals inside of the basket under the seat before boarding the plane. On my first flight with his chair, I had to remove the pedals in the jet bridge as people were passing me. My hands were full, and I was embarrassed and iverwhelmed. I had to push the pedals under the seat with my carry on and had little footroom. On my return flight, a lovely attendant suggested I secure the pedals in the basket. There is a seat belt attached and tucked away in that basket. I am telling you, I had a much more relaxed flight because of this feature! Again I will say, this is an amazing product!!

As a walker, the Z51 2 in 1 Rollator unit does extremely well. Although I purchased it for my wife, I have taken test drives and found the unit drives well on hardwood floors, tile, and carpet. The rollability as a walker is excellent. It is well built, and easy to assemble. However, when in transport mode (without the foot rests) once the unit is parked with the brakes locked with my 124 pound wife sitting in the seat, she can easily push the unit away from the table which sits on a hardwood floor. The brakes hold just fine, but as she stands up to leave the table, the rear tires slide while on hardwood floors. I decided to find out why my wife could move the Vocic unit when the brakes were locked. I weigh in at 125 pounds clothed, including shoes. I sat in the unit in transport mode at the table. In my stocking feet with brakes locked, I pushed on the oak table. The only thing moving was my feet. The Vocic unit did not move. I put my house slippers on which had good traction, and pushed on the oak table again. This time the oak table moved, but the Vocic unit itself did not move. Then, I stood up. My weight was no longer on the unit. When I stood up, my legs pressed against the unit and it easily slid backward. So, if while in transport mode you don't want your passenger to be able to move the unit, simply utilize the available seat belt, which removes the ability to stand up. Obviously, when in transport mode the unit requires more push when operating on carpet than is required when on a hardwood floor or tile. When used in the walker mode, it drives more like a sports car.

My wife loves this walker and frequently compares it to others. It's very comfortable, especially for back support, and folds up to fit nicely in the back of our vehicle.

Overall very happy with it but it is a little difficult to steer when pushing it with someone sitting in it.
