Ot will become darker as the oil saturates the leather. Watch a few videos on youtube. But I swear by this stuff for boots, belts and even watch bands for break in and protection as well as care. **Q: Should this be applied before, after or instead of Resolene? I make leather jewelry.** A: Resolene is a topcoat. This is oil rejuvinator type product. I don't make jewelery but I wouldn't combine the two. I would think unless the oil was completely dry you could have adhesion problems with a topcoat **Q: Is this ideal for black car seats?** A: No Use Saddle Soap for your car seats.. **Q: Is there a brush on the inside of the screw top that is used to apply the oil?** A: No. It's just an 8oz container of oil. I bought this because the picture that I saw looked like it had an applicator tip. What I received was nothing like the picture I saw.
