The fridge-freezer thermometer helped me improve the cooling settings in my refrigerator. I wanted to know the temperatures in both the freezer and refrigerator compartments. There is an ink-smear blemish on the top of the base that cannot be removed, which suggests sloppy quality control during manufacturing. Besides that, the thermometer was easy to set up and adjust. After inserting the batteries into the sensors and then the base unit, I kept everything at room temperature for 20 minutes to check the accuracy. Both sensors gave accurate readings. I then placed one sensor in the freezer and the other in the refrigerator. After 20 minutes, the freezer reading was 10°F, and the refrigerator reading was 42°F. The standard refrigerator setting should be 0°F in the freezer and 37–40°F in the refrigerator. The refrigerator operates on an on/off cycle. When it is off, the temperatures in the freezer and refrigerator can rise by up to 3 degrees or more. Since the initial refrigerator reading was 42°F while the unit was running, the temperature rose to 45°F when it turned off. At 45°F, the refrigerator is considered unsafe cooling because bacteria can begin to grow on food. I adjusted the temperature dial inside the refrigerator to a cooler setting and then waited several hours without opening the doors to see if the adjusted temperature changed improved to the correct standard setting. One important thing to remember is to set the minimum and maximum temperature settings; otherwise, the alarm will not work. If you do not want to hear the alarm, you can leave the minimum and maximum settings as they are. Also, do not place the sensors directly near the cooling vents in the freezer or refrigerator. Instead, place each sensor in the middle of the shelf in each compartment. The magnets on the back of the base do not prevent it from swiveling from side to side. I applied double-sided tape to the bottom to keep the base secure on the refrigerator door. I have not used the USB plug for the base because the batteries provide sufficient power. I am glad I purchased this thermometer to monitor my refrigerator and keep my food at the proper temperatures. 8/27/26: This thermometer works well. I got it set to the correct temperature: 0°F in the freezer and 37–40°F in the refrigerator. It took about 2 days to get the refrigerator adjusted properly. I turned the refrigerator dial bit by bit until the thermometer showed the correct temperature. I don’t have to leave the sensors in the refrigerator all the time. I can take them out and use the thermometer periodically to check the temperature again—battery saver.

I thought I needed to replace my existing temperature gauge and so I began searching for a replacement. Ultimately, I settled on this unit because it gave me 4 things I was looking for that my old unit did not. First, it updates every 30 seconds. Second, it can be easily read by using the backlighting. Third, it tells me the humidity level along with the temperature. Finally, it indicates whether there is likely to be rain and whether conditions are right for growing mold. Admittedly, the fourth (weather and mold) hadn't been things I was looking for during my searching. We have been using this gauge for several weeks now and are very pleased with it. I noted that some reviewers commented that the temperature readings are not accurate, but I am unsure how they came to that conclusion. As best I can tell, the readings are accurate (it measures to a tenth of a degree, eg, 74.6, and I have no way to verify the accuracy of that measure). I would definitely buy this unit again. It was very easy to set up -- a hassle-free product.
